10 August 2019. At Belgian Beer Geek Tasting. Cheers to the crew, thanks for hosting, Tim! Hazy brown-reddish, lasting, unstable, foamy, tan head. Aroma of sherry, red grapes, wood, brioche, red apple, cake, caramel. Taste is medium fruity sour, grapes & berries over bretty, leathery & bitter woody notes, herbal next to sweetish malt, cake & apple. Dryish, tart, lingering red grape, wood, brett. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Very unusual brew, works well.

Nose is dark fruit rinds, toffee apple, wooded notes, nutty, spice, oak, damp straw, lemon rinds. Taste comprises mellow oak, red wine pinch, plums, dried fruits, spice, stoned fruits, dates, stewed fruit, wood must, farmyard lite. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a modicum of acidic bite. Solid easy drinking and relatively mellow sour.

Bottle at Leighton’s 20K tasting, big thanks to the main man himself. It pours deep - dark brown with a thick light tan head. The aroma is toasty, bitter - sweet, roasted malt, tangy dark fruits, red berry, lemon sherbet, granny smith apple and dull caramel. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, toasty, roasted malt, sour cherry, red grape, redcurrant, wood, vinous, mild acidity, Dr pepper and leather with a dry, bitter - sweet finish. Medium body and moderate + carbonation. Rather interesting and good depth of flavour. Good fruit character. Tasty stuff.

Leighton’s 20K at his posh new gaff! Thanks to Leighton for another rare opportunity to try a beer from this brewery, wish I could have appreciated it more. Hazy amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Modest tartness. Ripe berry fruits. Trace of must. Light semi dry finish. Not enough going on here to really grab me.

Bottle shared in London at the 20k - sourced from the brewery. Pours clear reddish-brown with a frothy head. Nice aroma, dried fruits, light leather, funk, red berries. Light sweet flavour with moderate acetic bite, more tart berries, a little earth. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Cleansing finish, more acetic bite, berries, leather, a little wood. Great stuff. Wonderful depth.
