Subtlety. That's what makes Avalanche amber ale such a treat. We blend pale and caramel malts – and just a kiss of bittering hops – to create a refreshing-but-flavorful, any-time beer. Aromas of pale grains, a semi-sweet middle and a clean-as-Colorado-snow finish make this our best-selling beer.

12oz bottle from Wegman’s, King of Prussia, PA. A deep amber with a thin cream head; musty hop aroma; soft, with a malty caramel flavour; and a sweet finish. There’s nothing wrong with this, but then there’s nothing that stands out either.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottling info. Pours slightly hazy golden orange color with a fairly dense 2 finger off white head with good retention that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of caramel, bready grain, light citrus, and spiciness. Fairly nice aromas with good strength. Taste of caramel, bready grains, herbal spiciness, pine, and a bit of citrus. Decent bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of bready grains, herbal spiciness, and light caramel. The breadiness and grain flavors are a bit odd. Decent amount of flavor, but it does come off as a bit watery. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with some prickly carbonation. Very smooth to drink at 4.4%, with no alcohol presence. Overall this is an ok amber ale. A little too bready, and not as much hop character as I would like. Easy to drink though.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a glass. Pours clear copper with small white head that dissapates quickly. Little lacing, medium/light body, and low carbonation. Taste is caramel malt, some herbal, and some bitterness in the finish. Not a fan.

Bottle: Light amber pour with a fluffy sand colored head. Malty, a bit of modest florals and some faint grass. Rather mild.

Clear brown beer. Crisp and dry palate. Mild malt. Not much else going on but a perfectly serviceable beer.

Bland, but the flavors that are conjured don’t do much. Mildewy malts meet with an off-tasting bitter finish, yet everything is watery and bland. Great packaging, though. Sucked me in. (11/08)

12oz bottle. Slightly hazy orange-red, with a thin off-white head. Fruity amber malt aroma. Medium bodied, a touch watery. Fruity, pungent amber malt dominates..not much going on hopwise. Rather insipid offering. Drinkable, but in no way memorable. A touch of off flavors, but covered up.

Pours deep amber into a Sam glass. Off-white micro head with medium retention recedes to hug rim leaving no lacing. Sourdough and caramel aromas. Crisp with roasted vegetables and caramel upfront turning sour before the lasting slightly hopped finish.

Tap @ Peoria grill, Denver. Pours amber with a small white head. Aroma of malt, nuts and grassy hops. Taste is much like aroma with some added nuts and sweetness. Medium body, soft carbonation. Drinkable but nothing special. 180211
