Bottle. Pours inky black with small foamy beige head, caramel-roasted malt aroma, low carbonation, bitter roasted malt taste with woodsy flavor, smooth-thin body, long bitter finish. Quite smooth and tasty, though the Earl Grey has been all but lost.

330ml bottle (on the beach on Christmas day). Huge chocolate marmalade aroma. Plenty of chocolate, coffee, plums, orange marmalade, licorice and a little floral character and some alcohol heat. Big, bold and extremely fun.

3rd November 2016
Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has reasonable fine carbonation. Airy dark malts, trace of dark chocolate. Mild roast. Strong Earl Grey. Mild spice. Floral citrus. Bitterness builds. Light semi dry finish. Tasty and interesting but a small bottle was more than enough.

Pours black with a small head.Nose shows heavy roast, mint, earl grey herbal notes. Interesting stuff.Flavours include more herbal earl grey notes and some of the roasted malt.

330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours black, good tan head. Aroma is hoppy roast with a damsons sweetness. Taste is clearly thicker and fuller than PKB. Some floral spicey notes, oily with some dark plummy fruits coming into play. Good smooth flavoursome porter.

From a 330ml bottle on 26/3/2016. Pours the darkest brown with a very small tan head. Has a aroma of chocolate with some light fruity hops. Flavour wise, it’s pretty powerful - quite roasty, very fruity (cherries, sultanas, prunes), with some fairly assertive hops. The Earl Grey finishes really prominently at the back and definitely makes this one a black IPA with a difference. Fulled bodied with soft carbonation. Unusual and very enjoyable.

Bottle. Black with tan head. Aroma has all manner of citrus over molasses and light roast. Hard to tell where the hops finish and the orange-flavoured tea starts. Round, rich mellow malty flavours with roasted and deep biscuity flavours, enough bitterness and citrus flavours to lighten the load yet not be really intrusive. The tea is a bit drying at the end. Not keen on the leafiness of the tea, wonder how much I’d notice it blind. Some licorice at the end too. This is another rather elegant variation.
