Sampled from 0.375 l bottle. Very dark red to black, no head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and some tar. Very sweet, malty, moderately roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and some praline, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter, slightly dry and a bit warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice!

Bottle at home, #2905/3600, rake number 16KAY, 27/05/16. Black with a moderate tan swirl that soon dis sipates to nyadda. Nose is sweet malt, rich chocolate, mellow barrel, molasses, raisens, toasted coconut. Taste comprises liquid fruit cake, light barrel tones, sweet malt, liquid chocolate, light charr, dates, raisens, light spice. Hasn’t held up too badly at all ... a touch sweet and cloying but a decent enough sipper.

Tasty. A comfortable, full sipper. Boozy, but also quite smooth, with a lot of tasty dark malts and some interesting other notes from the background.

Bottle. This beer is one of the few boasting of several adjectives which actually delivers all of them. The color is very dark, almost black. Carbonation mostly escaped but that is OK here. It is really sweet but not disturbingly so. You get loads of caramel, coconut is present, whisky barrels as well and finally also light Belgian yeasty character. Complex but really nicely rounded and harmonic. Alcohol hidden well and easy drinking.

(Bottle) Black colour with brief, foamy, pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with strong sweet espresso, liquorice, cacao, oak wood, molasses and hints of soy sauce. Malty, roasted taste with notes of strong sweet espresso, cacao, molasses, hints of coconut and a sweet, vinous finish. There’s a certain cocoa bitterness there, but mainly overshadowed by sweet malt. Full body, quite sweet. Complex and vinous, with lots of taste. Very nice.
