Bottle at Craig’s. Pours near black with no head. Aromas of liquorice and dark sugars. Taste is sweet, quite boozy. not getting any coconut to be honest.. Finishes a bit thin. Glad to have tried.

Bottle at Craig’s. Sweet, liquorice, little coconut, bit of a funky aftertaste that lingers, sweet, thin. Bottle at home, now 7 years old! Massive soy sauce and chocolate, roasted, leather, quite sweet, hints of the coconut. Not bad actually.

Bootle at home traded with Nick for an AB:06 ages ago. Aroma is sweet brown sugar, muscavado sugar and toffee. Dark brown black pour clear with no head. Really viscous sryupy pour legs. Flavour is sweet toffee, brown sugar and soft roast. some coconut maybe? Maybe aged this one too much. Some earthy coffee bean in the finish. Palte is full and sweet sticky with low carbonation. Hides the the alcohol well. Tasty, maybe a bit too sweet.

375mL bottle at The Bishop Arms Folkungagatan, pours jet black with just a few bubbles of brown head. Aroma screams coconut upfront, followed by decadent cocoa notes. The coconut and cocoa are pretty much the main two qualities on the nose. Flavour is intensely sweet, almost sickly sweet, but somehow fitting, with notes of coconut and cocoa upfront, a little caramel, and lots of residual sugars. This is fairly cloying in sweetness, but somehow it works. These uber-sweet impie stouts are usually detracting to me, but this one feels elegant and complex. Excellent stuff. Perhaps only second to Abstrakt AB:04 in the series. Inexplicably great.

Opaque black beer, little tan head. Sweet coffee and dark malt nose. Soft and surprisingly light palate. Sweet dark malts, traces of coffee, chocolate and sweet brandy. The coconut is pretty subtle and on the back of the tongue. Trace of red berry fruits in the mid. Some aniseed alcohol but no real heat. Semi dry finish. Sweet, tasty and well joined up beer. Should be even better in a year or two.

Bottle at the Mikkeller Bar Copenhagen. Well, you will probably either love or hate this "beer" but just to be difficult ... Im on the fence! There's no head and no lacing on this very dark beer. It's jam packed full of flavours for sure and the coconut and cacao are very evident. It's very smooth and quite refined, but it's no refreshing session beer thats for sure. Your taste buds will be dancing without doubt, but whether they will be dancing your dance only you can decide. Give it a try and form your own opinion. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared at Mikkeller bar. Pours black with no head. Aroma of rich chocolate, licorice and light alcohol. Flavour is heavy sweet, no bitterness, thick licorice with rum notes and light coconut. Full bodied with no real carbonation. Extremely thick oily mouthfeel.

After having tried to get this one in Glasgow and Edinburgh I finally found a 375ml bottle at Mikkeller Bar. Bottle no. 1602, shared with two fellow Norwegians at the bar. Jet black body. Bright naked surface. Dark bread and sweetness of anise to the nose. Likable taste profile of dark fruits and dark berries on a vanilla oak backbone. Sherry impression. Long-lived ending with strong, but well integrated, alcohol warming down the throat. Superb sipper (Copenhagen, 09.05.2012).

Bottle shared with (and great courtasy of) the fantastic Bergen tasting crew with such stars as ClubGonzo, Inbreak and Palme, and the mighty StoreMy. Has a deep brown colour, almost black, with a light brown head. Smells like dried fruit, prunes, dark chocolate, alcohol, leather, slightly burned, and surprisingly some cat piss. Dried fruits, leather and roast also in the flavour, with licorice, liqueur, port wine, black currant, and the beer feels slightly acidic. Oily mouth feel. A magnificent beer with a wonderful taste.
