Limfjordsporter, eller i folkemunde "Øllets Gentleman", er en næsten sort undergæret porter med en cremet lysebrun skumtop. Smagen er kompleks og domineret af lakrids, røg, ristet byg og maltsødme, og flot afstemt med en markant bitterhed fra humlen.
Thisted Bryghus købte ved lukningen af Urban Bryggeriet, Aalborg i 1986 rettighederne til navnet og den karakteristiske blå/orange etiket. I 1989 kom Limfjordsporteren så på markedet fra Thisted Bryghus, men tidligere brygmester Peter Klemensen fortsatte med at udvikle på opskriften indtil 1997, hvor han ikke mente, at den kunne forbedres yderligere.
Sidenhen er denne øl blevet et ikon i ølverdenen, og det er et af de relativt få produkter fra Thisted Bryghus, der findes udenfor landets grænser - senest i Sverige.
De fleste nyder Limfjordsporter alene uden mad, men prøv den også til kraftige simreretter eller den avancerede som ledsager til østers.

Black, beige head. Aroma has licorice, malt, light smoke. Similar flavour, low bitterness. Light, warming alc, full bodied. A classic but a little old fashioned nowadays.

On draft at ChurchKey in DC. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Smooth and velvety mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. Roasted malt finish.

Bottle shared at Borefts ’13, thanks to Kraddel for the pour, 28/09/13. Light black with a thin tan head. Nose is light roast, cocoa, earthy tones, dark fruit tang. Taste comprises light roast, cocoa, earthy, leather, chocolate notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry roasty finish. Decent enough Baltic, alcohol well integrated.

Courtesey & thx! to Kraddel. 33 cl. bottle sampled @ Borefts 2013. BBF 19/02/2014. Black with a mocha head. Nose indicates some age, light oxidation, touch soy sauce, old chocolate, syrupy, smell is not that strong overall. Taste is a bit old, old chocolate, bitter roast, pretty herbal, liquorish, big roast, dark fruits. Bit light & fizzy mouthfeel, certainly not bad overall.

330 ml bottle. Pours a super dark brown with light tan head. Aromas of tobacco, light smoke, and brownies. Flavours are similar though slightly stronger and bitter. Dry.

Aroma: The aroma has a good amount of licorice and roasted malts, with some smoke as well
Appearance: This pours a dark brown color with a dark brown head and some light lacing
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, it has plenty of roast, licorice, and a good amount of smoke
Palate: Thr body is medium, it has a decent mouthfeel, and pretty decent finish as well
Overall Impression: I thought this was pretty good, but I guess I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the average rather, as I had it in the mid 3s instead of closer to a 4.

Bottled. Black with lace. Roasty coffee nose, cream. Sweet cream and coffee flavor, vanilla. Very dirnkable, grat balance. Raosty, bitter finish. Decent.
