Sampled @ Pint Winterbierfestival Gouda, 2016. Lightly hazy dark reddish to red-brown color, medium sized off-white to beige head. Aroma is surprisingly hoppy, flavor as well. Total surprise. Did absolutely not expect this. Like it though.

330ml bottle. Dark chestnut colour with ruby red glimmer and huge, thick, creamy, mostly to fully lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Chocolately dark malty aroma with leathery vanilla touch, minimally piney-herbal hoppy overtones. Taste is minimally sweet dark malty, chocolately, hints of vanilla and liquorice, a touch of leather, full body, lasting, dry liquorice finish.

Hazy, dark brown to black colored, small+ beige creamy head, nice lacing, not too lasting. Aroma is of chocolate, roasted malt, bit dark fruits, coconut and vanilla, lemony hoppy also. Taste is medium sweet malt, chocolate, roasted coffee and bitter chocolate, vanilla, coconut, custardy, medium dry bitter chocolate-hoppy finish, alcohol well hidden. Medium+ bodied, soft carbonation, creamy. (bottle, Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte)

On tap at Winterbierfestival Gouda 2016. Clear, dark brownish amber with a medium large, creamy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Sweetish-malty, slightly spicy aroma of caramel, brown sugar and nuts. Sweetish-malty, slightly spicy taste of toffee, brown sugar, nuts and cinnamon, followed by a short, slightly bitter, spicy finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, flat. Nice!

Thank you for sharing people! Sampled 3 times draft @ “Gouda Winterbier Festival 2016”. Absolute favourite of the festival. Quite hazy brown, small tanned head. Nose is massive vanilla, really big & intense, candy, mocha, sweet chocolate, faint soy. Taste is indeed massive vanilla with sugar, mocha, sweet candy, chewy cheap sweet chocolate texture & taste. So much vanilla goodness. Beautiful, every bit as good as I had hoped. Kees! remains hugely hit or miss for me but this is very clear hit for me. I do love vanilla & Sorachi Ace.

Tap sample at PINT Winterbierfestival ’16. Brown colour, thin beige head. Aroma of vanilla, citrus, hint of toast, brown malts, red fruits. Flavour is likewise, quite some red fruits (SA hops?), vanilla, citrus, malts, bitter hoppy finish. Medium bodied. Tasty, wasn’t expecting anything as hoppy as this.

Draft sampled at PINT Winterbier festival Gouda 2016. Caramel/amber color. Sweet caramel malts, oranges, tangerine, licorice, custard flavor is in recognizably in there. Medium sweet, quite bitter, little medicinal flavors (probably the typical Sorrachi Ace hops). Overall quite nice! Bottle at home. Black with firm crème head. Roasted sweet caramel malts, tangerine, citrus peels, sorrachi ace hop funk, licorice, custard, vanilla, flower petals/parfume. Over medium sweet, medium bitter. Medium bodied, thicker than average texture, long and pleasant bitter/sweet finish. Good taste, could’ve used a fatter body, but still a big like. Takes a fuller glass than a sample (yeah really big surprise :-P) to enjoy; upped .3 since the first time. --- Beer merged from original tick of Custard Porter on 21 Nov 2017 at 14:44 - Score: 8. Pint Winterbierfestival, Gouda 2016.
