Bottle at Jeffrey. Pours deep ruby brown. Nose is light peat and caramel. Tastes of bacon, tobacco, peat, caramel, prunes, malt, with hopping bitterness on finish. Smooth mouthfeel.

A clear dark amber ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, classic burned caramel malt with grassy hops, wooden notes, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light nice peaty notes, treacle, very nice. OttBottShare Dec 15 2013.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy deep ruby red color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, plum, pear, apple, raisin, toffee, bread, floral, herbal, light pepper, light chocolate, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, pear, apple, raisin, plum, brown bread, light chocolate, floral, herbal, and toast/yeast earthiness. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, pear, apple, raisin, plum, brown bread, light chocolate, herbal, and toast/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark malt and yeast ester flavors; with nice robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Scottish ale. All around good balance, complexity, and robustness of malt and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle - Oak, grains, chocolate and whiskey. DRk but clear amber. Big toasted grains, slight chocolate and whiskey with a touch of oak. Great beer.

Hazy Dark Brown With Shades Of Red, Big Foamy Head, Decent Strings Lacing. Surprisingly, Not Much Of Aroma To Speak Of. Very Faint Lightly Toasted Malt Aroma. Sweet Malt, Caramel, Dark Fruits, Light Alcohol Zing At The End. Full Body, Light Carbonation. Enjoyable. OK but I think I’ve had Better... Still Worth A Try...

Bottle from Mikkeller & Friends. It pours a great deep golden brown with a beige head. The aroma is a full of lovely malt sweetness (caramel, chocolate) with an overlay of citrus. The beer has a nice full mouthfeel with a great balance between caramel, mild chocolate, biscuit & a subtle citrusy hop finish. Really well done & less hoppy than I expected. In a side by side tasting with Old Chub. It is smoother than Oscar Blues’s Old Chub but that has a slightly fuller mouthfeel. Seriously these are both great examples of the style.

Bottle. Pours hazy reddish amber with a small beige head that dissipates leaving nice lacing behind. Aroma is not strong, but sweet and malty with caramel and toffee notes dominating, with just a touch of hay. The flavor is medium sweet, very malty but also a bit spicy - almost like rye malt, some fruitiness and biscuit notes. Spicy notes lead to a "hot" finish, almost like it was a higher ABV than 6.5%. Medium body, prickly carbonation.

Murky maple wood color. slight gusher, 1 finger tan head. Smells of burnt malts, oak and amber and birch syrup. Taste is very sweet, not boozy, nice balance between malts and bitterness. Loving the sweetness but one bottle is enough.
