AB:09 is a 17.1%, Cranachan Imperial Stout, brewed in September 2011, and has been peacefully maturing in our amazing single grain whisky barrels since.
The Cranachan Imperial Stout was inspired by the famous Scottish desert, and was brewed with a mountain of dark malts, loads of oats, Scottish heather honey and local raspberries. The beer was then transferred to oak casks to mature for 6 months.

(Bottle) Black colour with brief, foamy head. Malty, vinous nose with notes of liquorice, oak wood, a touch of whisky, soy sauce, dark chocolate, strong black coffee, rum raisins and hints of raspberries. Malty, roasted taste with liquorice, salmiak, soy sauce, sweet espresso, cacao, dark chocolate, oak wood, rum raisins and a strong, vinous finish with a fair amount of grain whisky shining through. Full body (too say the least), quite sweet. Powerful stuff, but really tasty in moderate amounts. Very nice.

Bottle - Molasses, boozy Whisky and some anise. Jet black with no head. Sweet honey, liquorice, dark fruit and some light Whisky notes. Boozy and oily. For something this old still very big and potent.

Bottle at the pre Bamberg tune up in the Sham, big thanks to Kenny #2303/5754, 23/01/14. Pitch black with a moderate tan covering that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is big roast malt, dark chocolate, smoke, spice, dark fruit twang, whisky notes. Taste comprises subtle BA whisky, dark chocolate, molasses, boozey leanings. Full bodied, fine carbonation with a booze laced closure. Nice stuff, holding up well, booze well integrated for 17% !

Dark chocolate malt with lightly tangy dark fruits. Spicy fruity whisky. The dark choc turns tangy before a semi dry finish.

Bottle, # 4677. Pours a dark translucent red with a small creamy mocha coloured head. Aroma is dark roasted malts, prunes, raisins and dark fruits, as well as spicy whiffs of alcohol and oak. Full creamy body with no carbonation at all. Flavour is sweet with burned malts, kandi, molasses and pepper, as well as fitting notes of oaky alcohol, liquorice, prunes and figs. Massive and quite burned finish.
