Handpull cask at the Polka Hop, Wakefield. ABV 4.5%. Very dark brown, a bit translucent with a full khaki head. Malty aroma, chocolate and some black bread notes. Sweet taste, malty but with sharp cherry character. Bittering hop in the finish. Oily body, soft carbonation. Not so big on personality but still pretty damn good.

Cask-conditioned at the WG Grace (JDW), Bristol, February 2014. Near black with a thin, off-white head. Roasted malts, some milk chocolate, camp coffee, caramel, and a gent finish. Fine.

Cask at the Hope Tap, Reading. Brown with a thick beige head. Treacle and artificial chocolate and mahogany wardrobes and spice and bonfires and a little creosote. Actually really quite spicy by the end. Apart from the fake chocolate I really enjoyed this. Nice one.

Crosse Keys Spoons. Cask. Almost.opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and airy, semi dry. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, just a touch of bitter roast. Mild spice then tangy fruits. Soft dry finish brings more spice, hop spice I think. Bitter linger, not bad.

Cask at the Victoria Station Spoon Centre - London. Pours clear, deep brown with a lastig, beige froth head. Nice toasty brown bread on the nose with nips of cocoa and leathery fruits. Medium sweet flavor with further dark and bready malts, reatrained earthy bitterness, toasted sugars, ripe fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Nicely balanced to finish with mild bittersweet cocoa, dry and burnt toffee, some earth, leathery fruits. Pretty OK.
