Bottle from M&S. Pours almost black with a lasting tan colour head. Aroma of winter spices and berries, plum, grape and fig. Quite heavy sweetness, touch of sour. Full body, very sticky texture. Sweet and sour berry finish. Started ok but not a big fan.

Bottle from Marks & Spencer, Manchester. Clouded brown with a small head. Its strength is hidden to an extent by a healthy winter berry sweetness, fused with some yeasty pale malts. It’s fairly potent in this respect.

Bottle shared at Cafe Abseits during the Bamberg Jolly - January 2014. Cheers! Pours clear amber with a foamy, off-white head. Sweet, with some bready character, light alcohol, subtle fruits. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, lightly warming, with notes of brown bread, ripe and dried fruits, berries, a little fruitcake. Not bad.

330ml bottle from M&S Edinburgh. Bit of a gusher, but soon under control. Pours hazy brown, no head, spent its CO2 load early. Sweet aromas, toffee apples. Taste is sweet too. Finishes a little drier than expected. OK.

33cl bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - initially a gusher. Then it pours with no head at all. It looks like cherry cola. Nose - candy sugar, maybe going into toffee. There’s a tangy cherry thing too. Taste - barrabrith cake and the rest tastes mostly of a honey wort really. Palate - medium to full bodied with a big tangy texture and a fairly dry finish despite the richness. Overall - solid but cloying.

Bottle at home from Euston Marks and Spencer. Aroma is initially carbonation and sweet caramel and alcohol, then really soapy. Dark red, caramel coloured pour with a big effervescent light tan head that fades to a thin film. Flvour is stale nutty caramel malts, mineral and muddked spices. Some raisin. High abbrasive carbonation. Too soapy and weird. Not enjoyable.

33cl bottle from M&S Wokingham. A deep reddish chestnut pour with a fast fading cream head; attractive aroma of berries and Belgian yeast; soft caramel taste with some hidden berries and spiced plums, and a smooth grainy texture to match; then some more Belgian yeasts and biscuit crumbs leading to warming finish, that hides the 8% ABV very well.

Bamberg Bash Day 2. Cafe Abseits tasting. Hazy amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Light palate, crispy. Slightly oxidised tasting caramel. Touch of spice and a little dried fruits. Dry smooth finish. Okay.
