BATCH 18 (blended in October 2014) was distributed as follows:
Type in BATCH
Moscatel 50%
Brandy 17%
Oloroso 16,5%
New Oak High Toast 16,5%
In terms of basis, this Oak Aged Batch 18 is the smaller brother of Batch 17, and as such it has a copper-brown colour and a mixture of muscatel and Quadrupel aromas. In addition to the obvious presence of grapes, one also clearly recognises date and vanilla flavours. This batch has more of a smoky flavour, as newly burnt wood was used. The wood tannins however, are less prominent. As a result, the aromas are softer and creamier, giving the consumer a complex yet highly accessible flavour.
Characteristics of muscatel: fruity: orange blossom, honey, light orange, raisin; flowery: rose, geranium, lily; spicy: tobacco leave, cider, clove.

Bottle at home. Two year old bottle. Has a clear deep mahogany colour with a small light beige head. Sweet aroma of caramel, brown sugar, dates, oak, liquor, cognac-like, hint of spices, heather and bubble gum. The flavour has more wood, alcohol, caramel, hassel nuts, raisins and red currants. A little dry in the end. Has a slick and silky mouth feel, full-bodied and a light bitterness. A very complex and rich ale. Sweet and well-balanced.

Bottle from Steamworks Liquor Shop, synthetic cork; 11.6% ABV stated on the label added by the importer (?), bb 10-2019
Dull brown color, unclear, with almost no head. Light aroma of wood (oak?), and light hazelnut brittle, even some vegetables (6.5). Decent body strength, a bit thin actually; timid malt flavor, without depth, some caramel and toffee, and quite strong alcohol presence; there are some fruity traits, maybe from the barrels, but the bitterness is almost absent, hence a fairly sweet, but not syrupy, feeling.
Not a bad beer, but quite disappointing, also considering the extreme price tag.

Unclear brown, little to no head. Aroma is quite boozy with peach, grapes, dried apples, dough, white pepper, Sherry, brown sugar. Taste is like a spicier and quite oaky normal quadrupel with some candied plums and very ripe grapes too. "Medium" sherry notes suggest more oxidation than there really is but the spices and still relatively firm bitterness work the other way. Dark fruit creeps up a bit and the peppery oak threatens to be a bit oppressive after a while. Good, albeit ugly. Still like the normal version rather more.

Bottle big thanks to Rene. It pours deep red-mahogany brown with a small off-white head. The nose is soft, sweet, juicy, vanilla, dark fruits, cherry, stewed fruits, juicy fruit cake, toast, earthy roast and Dandelion & Burdock. The taste is slick, bitter, rich fruity cornucopia, plum, prune, toasty, vanilla, mild acidity, Dandelion & Burdock, earth and jammy berry and some warmth through the finish. Medium - full body and average carbonation. Great depth of flavour and good balance. Very fruity. Really rather delicious.

375ml bottle from Beer Merchants. Pours a deep mahogany brown with a short-lived off-white head. Big sweet sherry aroma. Taste continues with smooth vanilla, almond, rich manuka honey, dried dark fruits and brandy warmth on the finish. A big slanging match between the flavours, vibrant, boozy, colourful and flavoursome. Ace.
