Full and rounded like an Indian new moon, this new breed is a modern twist on Indian Pale Ale. Jammed with fruity flavour and tantalising bitterness.

Cask at Archibald Simpson’s, Aberdeen. It pours golden amber with a medium white head. The nose is grainy, dough, faint floral and citrus peel. The taste is sweet, doughy, brioche, grain and floral/grassy notes and mild bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A pretty dull affair and a mile away from the "jaw-dropping bitterness" they advertise.

Cask at a JDW establishment - in think the Metropolitan Bar in London. Pours clear yellow with a foamy, white head. The nose holds dough and lemon. Light sweet flavor with faint tangy lemon and light straw bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Creamy and doughy malts in the ending with slight lemon rind and dirty hay. OK.

On gravity at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol, October 2013. Amber in colour with a slight, off-white head. Sweet malts, not many hops, gentle finish. Boring.

Cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 25 October. Poured a clear, dark golden colour with a thin white head. Floral hop aroma, some malty elements and a smidgen of lemon zest. Rather watery with some hop elements, but they’re rather low down in the mix, some cereal kicks in and there’s a light amount of grass on the palate. Nothing really ’bad’ about it, but it’s definitely rather bland, particularly when it claims to be an IPA.

Cask, handpump at The Penny Black, JDW, Sunday 2nd November 2013. Pours gold, looks very good. Not a lot on the nose, a little buttery in the mouth, compared to the Half Nelson this ain’t great at all. Muted hops, touch malty but thin, watery and cheap tasting. A5 A4 T4 P2 Ov9 2.4

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Clear amber with a ring of white head; grainy aroma; grainy in the mouth with some cloying fruit; and lacking any noticable finish. A rather poor golden ale.

Pale blond, looks like a lager. Very thin and watery texture. It’s a plain golden ale with a weak malt taste. Poor.
