330ml bottle. Golden pour, thin white head. Getting some aniseed on the nose, alongside barley orange sweets. Sweet taste and finish too. This must have finished around 1020. Sticky.

33cl bottle from Beerhive. Appearance - golden with a thin lacy head. Nose - tangy orange and yeast. Big malt background. Taste - apricots, mandarines. Orange barley water. Palate - medium to full bodied with a big tangy texture and a relatively fresh finish for the strength. Overall - this is at the start of barley wine territory. We’re talking IPA going into English Strong Ale.

Clear amber beer, little white head. Palate is lightly crisp and semi dry. The malt base has a fair dollop of toffee but remains light. The hops are orange and orange peel marmalade. Finishes smooth and minerally and carries a mellow bitter linger. Quite malty for an IPA but it’s pretty drinkable. Light floral touch as well.

Aroma: Muted aroma of pine needles and grapefruit.

Appearance: Hazy golden body with a thin off-white head that slowly fades. Light carbonation. Few lacing marks.

Taste: Very resinous. Flavours of pine, honey, alcohol soaked oranges and sweet candy. Mostly sweet with a faint hop bitterness.

Palate: Thin to medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Soft carbonation.

Overall: Quite harsh and raw, but full of flavour. Unfortunately, it’s far too sweet for my liking.

Bottle from Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Blimey! Lots of everything, most notably overripe mandarin, oily hops, some kind of vegetal rotting smell. All of which probably sounds horrible, but actually isn’t. I like this. But it’s a bit odd.

330ml bottle. Pours dark orange with a medium head. Aroma is sticky toffee and orange squash. Taste has lots of orange squash with a medium bitter finish. More barley wine-esque.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the lovely Cotteridge Wines. Pours crystal clear gold, modestly effervescent, with a large, frothy white cream head. The aroma holds lots of jammy citrus, some hay, pale bready malts. Light to medium sweet flavor with semi-ripe citrus, tangerine, peach, orange, some alcohol kick, firm pale malt sweetness, subtle bubblegum. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly dry to finish, subtle spicy pine, dry hay, very faint astringency, more tangerine, some melon, light warmth, soft sticky pine resins. Pretty nice IPA.

Bought from Trafalgar Wines, Brighton. Pours a shiny cognac copper, silky sweet on the tongue with whisps of vanilla and honey coming through on the nose. Certainly packs a punch at 7.5%. A nice new beer from Blue Monkey but perhaps too sweet for me.
