Spring Special - 7 different malts give smooth roast malt flavours with hints of coffee. Spicey bitterness and a slightly fruity hop aroma.

Handpull cask at the Last Post, Derby. Mahogany and very translucent. My pint is very lively indeed so the thick creamy off-white head takes a while to settle. Chocolate malt, red wine, oak and sour cherry in the aroma. Sweet with a slight sourness on the long finish with black cherry and a touch of liquorice and even coffee in the aftertaste. Body isn’t as weak as I’d have expected. Grows on me, more complex that the first few sips suggest.

Gravity pour half-pint at the 8 Sail Brewery, Heckington on 24th May 2014. Bland offering of black looking Mild with a thin white collar. Some hop bitterness infringed into the maltiness both in the aroma and taste, didn’t take to it at all. My first beer at the mini-festival and my worst of the day.

Cask at the Old Fountain - London. Shared with Kenny on our London Adventure. Pours clearish dark brown-red with a creamy tan head. Nose of burnt malts, faint tang, coffee. Light sweet flavor with toasted leaves, some burnt toast, light earth. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately dry to finish with dry roast coffee and faint dry fruits. Very good mild.

Old Fountain. Think Leighton bought this - cheers ears! Hazy dark amber - brown beer, little white head. Surprisingly rich malt, a little coffee. Decent tangy fruits. Lots going on for such a light mild.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol 9/06/2012. Dark brown with a tight, off-white head. Aroma of roasted makes and dark fruit. Flavour was sweetish, with more fruit some roastiness and a touch of hop in the finish. Good.

[Cask at Reading beerfest] Dark brown, small off-white loose head. Chcolate and smoke dominate. Good chewy mouthfeel; very drinkable, thirst-quenching and more-ish - I could happily drink a lot of this. Dry finish. A great mild, easily stood up to the black IPA I’d had just before.
