Cask at The Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear yellow with a faint, white cream head. Pale malt nose, some dough and hay - so typical. Light sweet flavor with some creamy malts, white bread, dry white grapes, berries. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with pale malts, low bitterness, bread, mild hay. Not bad, but so very, very typical.

May 2007: At last I have found it on draught somewhere, it was a guest ale at the excellent โ€™Eagleโ€™ in Boston (the real Boston, in Lincolnshire). I thought it darker than the bottle variety, but the pub is not well lit, so that may account for that. The flavours and aroma were stronger than the bottle, I enjoyed it so much, I had three pints, the guy behind the bar knew how to pour it too. A very good beer from one of my favourite breweries.

26th September 2008. Clear amber gold beer. Crisp and fruity. Dry finish. Not hoppy just a little fruity. A nice palate cleanser.

Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Copper bitter colour, lasting this beige. Bit of caramel on aroma. Bit of diacetyl maybe. Good condition though. Bit of green apple on the flavour. Itโ€™s an ok bitter, does what a bitter would as you would expect, but didnโ€™t jump out at you. Not even in a really competent bitter way.

Cask-conditioned at the Cross Hands, Winterbourne Down, S Gloucestershire 17/09/09. Amber coloured with a decent off-white head. Fruity, yeasty aroma with plenty of sweetness. Sweet flavour, with doughy malts, the afore mentioned pear drops and an earthy finish. Very Batemans but ok.

Copper color. Cheap caramel and milk chocolate nose with nasty caramel flavors in the mouth that carry through to the finish. Yuck.

Sampled cask at Akkurat, Stockholm.
Orange/amber.Vaguely lemony with bold, short mouthfeel. Notes of burnt malt leads to a sharp, grassy finish. Unrefined.

Cask. Bitter, slightly boring. I guess it is OK for a session beer..........
