Cask gravity at the St Albans beer fest 2014. Aroma is caramel sweet, some apple and dried fruits and slight warming alcohol. Opaque dark caramel / black coloured pour with a big lasting loose light tan head. Flavour is rounded nutty praline, caramel with slight tart berry and lingering roast. Some apple and warming alcohol. Palate is full bodied and semi creamy on the tongue. Lowish carbonation. Some liquorice.

Gravity dispense at Merton Winter BF ’13. Light black with a big light tan head. Nose is roast malt, mineral tones, fart and liqourice. Taste comprises roast malt, chocolate, dark fruits, molasses, liqourice, toffee and booze. Full bodied with moderate carbonation, boozey finish. Decent enough drinkable stuff but lacking the depth and complexity I’d hoped for.

Cask at the George, Croydon. It pours dark ruby, with a thick bubbly tan head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, sweet dark fruit, light jam and sugary coffee. The taste is roasted malt, burnt toast, soft dark fruit, red berry, ash, astringency, coffee grinds, alcohol and some bitter chocolate, with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and chewy mouth-feel. Decent, but not overly drinkable.

Gravity cask at The Old Fountain Beer Festival, October 2012. Pours black with a fine, creamy tan head. Boozy dark malt nose. Medium to big sweet flavor, lots of baking cocoa, charred wood, alcohol, dark malts, earthy bitterness. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately warm to finish with dry cocoa, sturdy roasted malts, light, light iodine, modest raisins, dark sugars. Pretty solid overall.
