We usually do not make compromises, but this is probably the exception. Norwegians are dead scared of dark beers. This is an attempt to show that there are gentle dark ales. As such Havre Stout is smooth and drinkable.
We think Havre Stout is good both with and in food. Try pairing it with a read meet dish, or give your vanilla icecream a small dash before serving. Recommended serving temperature 8°C/45°F.

thnx to ships ! pours dark brown, small ring of white foam. smell is very oaty. taste is rather sweet, oats, soft carbo. nice aftertaste

50 cl. bottle obtained in a trade with ClubGonzo. Bottled on 16.07.2012. Pours blackish, fading mocha head bubbles. Nose is smoke, chocolate, oat, candy, soy sauce & some lactic powder. Taste is watery smoke, meaty, soy sauce, oat, chocolate, roasted malts & light bitter vegetables in the back. Body is watery, completely misfire for me from these guys who usually deliver the goods.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines; dark black pour with tan head, chocolate and malt aroma, slight chocolate taste with a hint of oats and smoke, a bit thin and watery. But it’s quite a low ABV stout.

Tap at Fermentoren, Copenhagen. Poured a deep mahogany with a broken tan head. The aroma is smoky with malt. The flavour is medium bitter with liqourice, dark chocolate and roasted malt. Tastes a little more alcoholic than it is, but a super beer all the same.

Draught @ Fermentoren shared by Deanso. Black color, small off-white head. Smell and taste malts, lightly sourish, a bit weird. Medium body and carbonation.

Aroma is roasted with coffee notes, some cocoa and oat. Flavour is quite oaty and somewhat sweet with roasted malt, some coffee, semi‐dark chocolate and licorice. Nøgne doesn’t usually do compromises but I’ve read that this beer is one. And it really feels so, Nøgne can do better.

Half-litre bottle tasted during my ’Drinking around Europe’ evening on New Years Eve. Black bodied beer with a light tan/biege head that stayed the distance as well as leaving some heavy lacing on my UK sleeve glass. Malty molasses rule the nose and taste: chocolate, coffee and Brazil nuts! All in the aroma and flavours in the mouth. Nicely put together without setting the world alight: would have prefered a little hop bitterness in the blend to be honest: this was smooth, almost creamy and bordering on rich body wise. not as Oatmealy as I expected.

Aroma kaffe, røsted malt, brød. Utseende mørk mørk brun, nesten sort med brunt skum som daler sakte. Smak kaffe, mørk sjokolade, røsted malt, lakris, Humle. Saftig, middels fyldig og smaksrik. Smakt Juni -18

Flaske fra ICA Stavanger (batch 802, best før mai-13): brunt, luftig skum som forsvinner fort. Litt aroma av kaffe. Tradisjonell, nokså tørr stoutsmak (kaffe og litt mørk sjokolade). Noe metallisk og kortvarig ettersmak. Flaske, fra batch 887B (best før 15.11.13), delt med Ovesen jan-14: en skikkelig geysir, vi måtte stå over vasken da skummet ingen ende tok. Når det endelig roet seg i glasset var smaken tørr og slank men brusende i munnen. Kort ettersmak gjør at det er lett å ta en ny slurk. Ned fra 2.6 til 2.1. - antakelig har det vært noe galt med denne flasken.
