The ale is distinctive for its hoppy bitterness in both its aroma and its taste.

Shakespeare’s Head Spoons, Holborn. Clear gold beer, little white head. Light dry palate. Okay minerally mild hops. A little juicy citrus - shot down by a bothersome sulphur streak.

Cask at The Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear gold with a fine, white foam head. Toasted hay on the nose. Medium sweet flavor with notes of dry hay and straw, light nuts and white bread toast. Light in body with fine carbonation. Mild spice in the finish, some bread, straw and light fruits. Pretty basic bitter but not too bad.
