Spoons Fest. Clear amber beer. Light palate, low carbonation. Even malt with a toffee streak leading in to some mildly fruity hop. A little dry bubblegum underneath the malt. Reasonably well joined up.

Cask. Mild roasted aroma. Very dark brown colour. Seems clear, red shine. Small creamy light brown colour. The flavour is roasted with a vinous, sourish touch.

Half, hand pulled cask ale at Woodins Shades. Mahogany coloured body topped by a low, fawn coloured head. Slightly roasted dark malts to the nose. Dusty hops mixed with chocolate malts in flavour. Chocolate bitterness to the finish. Refreshing and easy to drink (London, 19.03.2011).

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Pours a clearish, reddish brown with a fine, off-white head. Chocolate syrup and roasted malts on the nose. Flavor is mediocre. Some dry, roasted malts, faint cocoa, hints of plastic, some herbal hops. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Bitter chocolate and light roast on the finish with some dry, astringent bitterness. Um, not a huge fan.

Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Yeasty bitter, ok, much like a hundred other bitters. Not much hop at all.

Cask-conditioned at the JDW in Staple Hill, Bristol 30/10/09. Deep gold in colour with a tight white head. Aroma of oranges, apricots and fruity hops. Flavour of grainy malts, more fruit and a short, bitter finish. Good.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Gold with a ring of white head; hedgerow fruit aroma; light body with purple fruit flavours and biscuity malts; lightly hopped finish.
