Spoons Fest. Clear amber beer, soft palate. Semi dry sweetish beer. Slightly appley but well balanced with light toffeeish malt.

(Cask at Penderel’s Oak JDW, Holborn, London, 19 Apr 2009) Amber colour with creamy, beige head. Fruity, floral nose with orange peel and citrussy hops. Fruity taste with notes of orange peel, mandarin and a fresh citrussy bitterness in a fairly short finish. Less than medium body. Nice and tasty bitter (and I seemed to find the only decent cask around).

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 21/04/09. Amber coloured with a moderate, off-white head. Earthy malts with a slightly spicy hop kick in the finish. also seemed to have that Batemans house edge. Ok, if not a beer I would revisit.

Cask handpull at Muggletons, JDW, Maidstone. Copper, slightly yeasty bitter. It’s ok, it’s a bitter. Fine.

Cask at The Penny Black, JDW, Bicester, Oxon 16-04-09 Pours amber with a white head, it actually looks really good. A touch of vanilla on the nose, some caramel in the mouth. Its tangy and fruity and with a decent hoppy and bitter side, quite nice. A6 A4 F7 P3 Ov12 3.2

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Amber with a thin off-white head; fresh leafy hop flavour with a tuoch of nettle; slightly spicy fruity finish. But overall, rather uninspiring.
