A warm chestnut brown with red glints and a cream-beige head. The abbey yeast in combination with the rye, wheat, and roasted malts generates a complex bouquet of dark dried fruits: plums, dates, rum raisins, and a hint of hazelnut. The drink is dry and elegant and leaves behind a wine-like impression. The alcohol content of 8.5 VOL% is pleasurably integrated.

Donker roodbruin bier met veel stevig schuim. Smaak is zoet met iets van karamel, bessen en heel licht iets van rook.

A bit cloudy and has that haze taste a bit. Not super clean, but underneath there is a very gorgeous beer, it’s just covered up a bit. D&S Dresden

0.33 l bottle from 'EDEKA Knudtsen', best before June 2021. Clear, ruby with a thin, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity, slightly yeasty-spicy aroma of caramel, raisins, brown sugar and traces of chocolate. Gently sweet, malty, slightly fruity and moderately yeasty-spicy taste of caramel, brown sugar, raisins, figs and some chocolate, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, smooth, slightly creamy and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Fairly nice Dubbel, another solid brew from Rügen.

33cl bottle; BB 21st Nov 2020. Poured into a large 'Leffe' Chalice at home on 20th Feb 2019. Smooth beige blanket of foam on top of a slightly hazy ruby body. Sadly the head fell away very swiftly. The nose held malty notes and a wine like aroma, fruity too. Fairly 'fizzy' in the mouth, with an alcoholic punch. Fruity and 'barrel aged' like in the flavours. Interesting from start to finish; liked it.
