Bottle. Pours hazy red with a large dark pink head and nice lacing. Aroma is very fruity - currants I assume, and lightly tart. Flavor is fruity, raspberry and currant, very sweet and moderately tart as well, with a tart lemony finish.

Bottle at the CBC Tune-Up, London. Pours a brutal purple with a big, pink head. Sweet berry nose with hints of tartness. Medium sweet flavor with lots of berries, mild tartness and grapes. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet, lightly tangy finish, very fruity. Nice beer.

Refrigerated greeen bottle poured into a white wine glass. Pours purple at the top that goes to light red at the bottom with light purple head. Some lacing, medium body, syrupy texture, medium/well carbonation, and tart black cassis aroma. Taste is complex sweet tart strong black cassis. A little cloying, but very flavorful.

25cl bottle (why might you drink more of this) pours rich deep ruby red grape juice with nice blood orange colored foam head. Please let it be intense with rich sweet/tart currants, please please! I beg you. The aroma offers up sweet sugar syrupy blueberries, vague berries and some modest rich earthy goodness currants (I love you currants). OK, the taste isn’t overly sweet and offers up a decent level of currant like tartness that begins with brief sweet dark berry and current notes and then moves progressively tart with fruity dry tannins. It is sort of a shame I’ve had B. Nectar’s Heart of Darkness and Kuhnhenn’s first run of Tenacious Cassis before this and tasted what they can do with currant goodness. Here it misses the depth of flavor and richness as well as falling short on the earthy goodness currants deliver. This tastes like it was cut with something and just comes up short of what it could be. Into the finish I get hints of the house mildly wild yeast adding just a bit of depth and added tartness and interest.

Bottle at my Pre-CBC Tune-Up Tasting. It pours deep purple, with a thin light pink head. The nose is sweet blackcurrant, jammy fruit and Ribena. The taste is tangy blackcurrant, jam, some sourness, lime and Ribena. Medium body and average carbonation. Not offensive at all, at least there is some good tanginess.

3.5%. Cloudy purple beer with a magenta head! Palate is semi dry and semi crisp. Rich blackcurrant totally dominates. Tart enough to cause a bit of eyelid flutter but never overpowering. Finishes tart crisp and dry. An intensely fruity experience!

375ml bottle. Pours opaque purple/black with a creamy pink head and steady fine bubbles. The nose has blackcurrant of course. The taste has more blackcurrant, some whipped cream and for some reason I get black cherry. The palate is light in structure and texture with a tangy but sweet finish. Overall, interesting but too sweet.
