We've finally teamed up with our friends at Pizza Port Brewing Co., one of our favorite breweries in San Diego. When deciding what to make, we figured something excessively hoppy was the logical choice, and so this collaboration brew was born. This triple IPA is an intensely hoppy and bitter San Diego-style India pale ale. The light malt character and light body allow aggressive notes of pine, mango, and citrus fruits to overtake the palate, while a dry finish allows it to remain crisp and refreshing. Make the Logical Choice and enjoy this beer immediately, much like the brewers did leaving work to enjoy it in sunny San Diego. Cheers!

Can. Pour is a nice medium gold with a fluffy white head that is a little oversized. Aromas are pretty heavy with fruit and honey sweetness, but it’s more of a pear and mango blend than anything to my nose. First sip reveals a heavy ABV presence over a sweet malt and fruit hops profile. Definitely comes across as pear and white grape now. Decent enough I guess, but I always like some resin to finish things. If nothing else, this is big and boozy.

Can. Wine Warehouse. Pours golden, head of beige. Aroma of citrus peel, light sweat. Flavor is pine - lots of it, citrus, caramel malt, bread, pineapple, resin. Long, lingering piney flavor.

12oz canned 6/23/17, drunk 12/15/17. So not exactly peak freshness....but figured I'd still give it a shot as more of a barleywine or ASA.
Clear blonde-golden, small white head showing moderate retention.
Confier, spruce and papaya show strong remnants of fruity, juicy, piney hops. Light pineapple juice character still remains though it's slightly twangy yet, despite an overall mellow nature to the aroma. Some esters are noteable but it's not alcoholic, surprisingly. Malts are surprisingly sparse in the nose; just light honey and cracker.
Pineapple, honey, biscuit and a soft, malty texture with proper attenuation. There's some heft, aka light syrupy sweetness, but it's fleeting and was no doubt covered up by the hop bitterness and flavor that must have been quite intense when young given the still pineapple-y nature of the beer. Moderate, engaging carbonation. Some bubble gum-like yeast on the end, with moderate acidity and light alcohol. Definitely on the strong side, but pretty well-brewed.

32oz crowler from Dominion Wine, pours a crystal clear orange with some lacing, white head. Nose has pine, soap, orange, grapefruit, herbs. Flavor follows exactly, orange, pine, soap, rosemary, grass. Full bodied, just slightly boozy and bitter finish. So west coast.

Can from de Bierliefhebber, dated 06/22/17. Slight hazy golden color, medium frothy head. Aroma of piney hops, slight candy from the malt, some citrus. Medium bitterness backed up by quite a heavy candy malty sweetness. But all in the typical USA imperial ipa style, so not sticky sugary sweet and no caramel. But more crisp. Great one.

12 ounce can. Hazy honey gold color. Frothy white head leaves a random, clingy lace. Toasted malt nose hints at fruit and alcohol. Bittersweet utterly malt flavor upfront. Notes of stale canned peaches and dried apricots. Warming (burning) alcohol soon follows. Then more old peaches and dried fruit. Piney hops meld with over the hill tropical fruits to leave you bemused and befuddled. Or perhaps unwashed and somewhat slightly dazed. Go forward and start a revolution in your head.

27/XII/17 - 12Fl. Oz. can from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte), shared @ post-Christmas Tasting (home) - BB: n/a, canned: VI/22/17 (2017-2248)
Clear orange beer, big creamy off-white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: some tropical fruits, mandarins, bit floral. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: pretty bitter start, sweet malts, bit resinous, alcohol, pretty fruity. Aftertaste: sweet, malty, some jam, bit resinous, fruity finish. Decent one, but not as super as I would've hoped it to be. Nothing like a Swami, for example...
