Tasted @ Gastropub Tuulensuu geuze blind tasting 2012. #11/15 overall rating
BBE 2029, 2009 vintage (?) - Pours light orange with a bubbly and smooth foamy head. Aroma of tart berries, apricose and earthy notes. Taste is light bodied with strange stingy sourness and tart fruits. Finish of light sour notes and hints of berries.

Clear golden colour, relatively firm white head. Aroma of drying grass, herbs, mint, horse blanket, wood, cork, relatively light. Tart flavour, light sour, lemon acid, unripe peach, white wine and wood. Very decent carbonation. Finish somewhat herbal, minty. Then more wood, dust and cork.
Lovely start, but the finish is somewhat disappointing to me. Overall not bad though, not bad at all.

375 ml bottle. Slightly hazy golden body with a big white head. Aroma is just like the definition of funky aroma. Flavor feels both sweet and sour (considering this is a geuze) with lemon, fresh and acidic citric fruit and funky. Fine body and super quaffable. It’s pretty straight forward geuze and still just wonderful.

Bottle, 375 ml, courtesy of geokkjer. An unclear one, yellowish golden in color and with a big, white head on top. The aroma is funky and barnyard-ish with citrus peel. Quite simple, but nice. Flavorwise there’s citrus peel, funk, a touch of leather and sweetness. Extremely smooth on the palate, dry, more or less full bodited and with a nice carbonation level. Overall, a super-drinkable geuze lacking on the extreme qualities. 120430

375 ml bottle bought @ Bierzwerg.de. Pours cloudy golden with a big fizzy white head that leaves some lacing on the glass while quickly dissipating. Smell is sour and tiny malty with lemon juice, lemon zest, horseblanket, apples, plums, hay, crackers, sour milk, leather and grapefruit juice. Taste is slightly sweet, slightly sour and tiny metallic with crackers, lemon zest, grapefruit juice, red apples, hay, horseblanket, unripe peaches, unripe mango, red currants and hints of barnyard. Mouthfeel is tart and thin to medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and tart with apples, crackers, hay and some dusty barnyard. Very refreshing and drinkable. Not as sour as I expected.

Bottle at Cafe La Brocante, Brussels. Pours hazy gold with a vivacious, white head. Nice sour nose, some grass and florals. Great flavor, lightly sweet, soft yet stern with a good, sour bite, and some wet grass and sand. Light bodied with fine, soft but still lively carbonation. Mild dry finish with some lightly juicy bitter lemon and dirty grass. Very nice.

Bottle at Cafe La Brocante, Brussels. It pours golden yellow, with a thick off-white head. The nose is farmyard, hay, funk, citrus and some TCP. The taste is soft apple, pear, tart lemon, hay and wood, with a tart finish. Clean, fresh taste. Medium body, lively carbonation and soft, velvety mouth-feel. A very soft, smooth and approachable gueuze.

No aroma. Cloudy amber, thick head. Orange and lime flavor, sharp but not cheesy. Soft carbonation. Not overly sour, but quite flavorful.

Bottle @ home. Clear yellow / golden color. Average sized white head. Smell sweet-sour, sour, slightly musty. Tastes pretty balanced sour and some freshness that almost hints towards some slight mint. Pretty decent. Suitable carbo, low to medium body.
