Hazy orange to amber colour with a small offwhite head. Smells sweet and malts. Tastes very sweet, malts. Way too sweet without any depth. Full body, soft carbo.

Huge, dense amberish-cream head over hazy amber beer with a faint mossy sheen. Banana, caramel, cakebottom. Bit of preserved fruit, but as to hops... Sweet caramel, toffee, and again banana. Finish has some bitterness, indifferent, vegetal. Fruitpeel, if hard to say what fruit. Very syrupy MF, viscous. Medium carbonation. Leaves a sticky sensation. OK, I concede - it does NOT say India, it says Imperial Pale ale (and neither did I know that Groede is located in Holland!). OTOH, the sahibs on the label look very Deccan. Whatever - WHERE ARE THOSE HOPS???! 5/4/6/3/12

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 22 Feb 2017) Dark amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Malty nose with caramel, dark fruit and hay. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of dried fruit, caramel, resin and a balanced citric bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty, but a bit boozy. Quite nice.

33cl Bottle. Clear deep orange amber colour, creamy off-white head. Aroma of wort, very sweet and malty, porridge with sugar, honey. Flavour is very sweet, malty, wort, light fruity, some marmelade, herbal bitterness underneath, firm bitter finish. Medium bodied. Nowhere near an IIPA as they claim it to be.

Bottle at de Paas. Hazy reddish amber. Sweet toasted caramel, some orange peel, malts. Barley, hops, toast, resin. Big sweet, light bitter. Over medium body, about average carbonation. More barleywine than pale ale. Quite strong. --- Beer merged from original tick of Imperial Pale Ale on 08 Jan 2018 at 17:23 - Score: 7
