Enjoyed at the 2012 Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation. This is an unblended Lambiek direct from the brewery. Served in 2 ounce pours.
A - Pinot grigio
S - cherry and sour acidic
T - intense sour oak dry cherries
M – weak mouth feel. Not very good finish
O – 2/5. Not so great.

Zythos Bierfestival 2012, Leuven, Belgium. Poured up via wooden cask gravity feed with a grape fruit juice color and deep ruby red hues supporting a minimal thin pink ring of foam. The aroma offers up musty notes of wood and funk and getting more sour the deeper I pull. I get full dark currant to grape skin like notes. The taste is rich, bright and tart with dark currant like flavor and then getting a bit spicy with oak before smooth red wine nuances are noticed. I also get some tannins seeming to dry it out into the finish. Wow, nice smooth rich and easy drinking.

Little cloudy ruby red beer, no head. Aroma: pretty sour, bit of unripe cherries, little cheese, bit sweet. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty spicy, bitter, some cinnamon, cherry candy. Tartness cutting through it like a razor. Aftertaste: sour, spices, pretty bitter as well.

29/IV/2012 - from small wooden barrel @ ZBF 2012 (Leuven) - BB: n/a (2012-450)
Note: advertised as the blended, unbottled, Kriek Mariage Parfait.
Clear deep ruby beer, small pink creamy layer, little stable. Aroma: very fruity, cherry candy ("poepkes"), little dusty (woody?) and some urine, let's call it bretta. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity start, little sweet, bitter, sour tangy. Aftertaste: still fruity, cherries, bitter woody touch, green apple skin, little bit of alcohol.

Dark red colour, purple red. No head. Aroma of cherry, pips, berries, almond. Quite fruity. Flavour very balanced sweet and sour, loads of cherry, quite astringent. Finish cherry, cherry pips, almond, marsipan and succade. Very lovely!
(Draught @ De Nacht van de Grote Dorst, Eizeringen. Supposedly the lambic for the Mariage Parfait. Thanks Uli for suggesting it to me!)

small wooden cask @ ZBF 2012 // base Marriage Parfait Kriek // (a) very dark Bordeaux red, tiny pink head // (s) sweet cherries, touch candy-like // (t) starts out quite sweet, oodles of sweet cherries, artificial, tad candy filling, hints of malts, fruity, hints of wood, maybe I can imagine some sourness in the body // (b) flat, touch mashed fruits, how come both the krieken & frambozenlambik are so simple & non-sour & fruity sweet (bordering on sweetened)?

Cask @ ZBF’12. Holy mother of all labmic, this is divine.

Tap at the 20th Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation. It pours hazy deep red, with no head or carbonation. The nose is farmyard, cheese, red grape, red apple, candy floss and manure. The taste is sweet red grape, artificial cherry, hay, lime, lemon, farmyard, with a dry finish. Not tart enough for me and fairly unexciting.

Draught at an inn in Beersel. Deep blood red with a lovely, fine, pink head. Huge cherry aroma, almondy pips, yogurt. Sweet flavor with tons of cherry, yogurt/cream, nuts. Some sourness but not much of the barnyard funk. Slight citric, acidy touch. A bit too sweet and simple, but wonderful fruit.

Bloody colour. Vinegary nose with cherry pits. Some wood on the palate but also prune, apricot and other indeterminate fruits. Starts tart but moves to a more alkali finish with vinegar.
