At Ghent Beer Festival. Pours clear and dark brown with a foamy beige head. Strong aroma of coffee, nuts, toast and leather. It tastes medium bitter and light sour. Soft carbonation, not extremely roasted in the aftertaste, decent bitterness, slick texture. A decent stout.

English coffee stout tasted at GBF. Pale greyish, moussy head, black robe. Aroma of cold black coffee and coffee grounds (but nothing refinedly espresso- or ristretto-like contrary to what I was hoping for), old nut shells, haemoglobin iron, black tea, leather, cured meat, burnt toast. Dry, umami-dominated onset, dried meat, very restrained in dried fruit sweetishness, sourish accent, softish carbo, nutty and increasingly toasted bittersweet middle with indeed some added black coffee flavor in the end but not as tangy as it could have been, little bit metallic, spicy hop bitterness, warming alcohol. Solid stout, in all.

Black with creamy head. There’s a really strong aroma and flavour of roast coffee. Well balanced though, not overpowering.

Small cream head over dark black-brown beer. Chocolatey nose, lots of (dry) black malts. Dry dark malts, liquorice, wood, chocolate, Ersatz coffee. Medium bodied, but a bit light MF. Bitterness arrives in the aftetaste. OK, nothing special, not really coffeeish.

Thank you for sharing! Sampled 330 ml. can @ Gents Bierfestival 2016. Black, mocha head. Nose is sweet coffee, grainy, lightly umami. Taste is sweetish coffee, thin coffee grounds, mocha, low umami,… Touch thin bodied. Rather simple & one-dimensional but enjoyable.

Can 33cl, BB 15.02.2017.

Can. Appearance is black, no light escaping, a half-finger light brown bubbly head. Aroma is lots of coffee, dark malts, milk chocolate, toffee, more coffee. Taste- roast malt, burnt treacle, huge coffee bitterness, bitter roasty finish, burnt toast. Mouthfeel is slick and carbonated. Nice coffee-forward stout.

Can. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Clear, dark cola brown. Dense, messy, lasting, light tan head. Looks good. Nose has earthy, fruity coffee bean. Grassy hop. A little woody and vinous. Taste is big, woody, earthy bitter, with a load of tart, vinous bitterness. Has the lightest, milky sweetness, but this is a bitter beer. Soft, foamy mouthfeel. Long, coffee bean bitter finish. Too much bitterness for me. Needs a bit of creamy sweetness.
