Oatmeal and spelt stout by l'Ermitage, tasted from tap at Dok Brewing Company after Ermitage's tap takeover there. Snow white, tightly lacing, creamy, stable head over an equally misty, peachy-hued straw blonde beer. Aroma of unprocessed and unsugared orange juice, unripe green gooseberries, yoghurt, sourdough, overripe yellow plums, fermenting pear, 'Bretty' sweat, cider, wet biscuit, goat cheese, white grapes. Very estery onset, overripe stonefruit and fermenting berries, pear, grape peel, fizzy carb, bready and lightly biscuity maltiness underneath a drying, fruity, eventually even slightly vinegary tartness, yoghurty, bit 'sweaty' and 'Bretty' finish, juicily sour and fruity with an earthy yeasty touch and a very mild herbal hop bitterishness. Tart, lactic and very estery, this is a sour ale in the modern Anglo-Saxon sense of the word - a modern 'farmhouse ale' I guess - rather than a true saison, but a very pleasant one. Ermitage (almost) at its best.

23 July 2018. L'Ermitage Tap Takeover at Dok Brewing, Ghent. Cheers to Anke!
Pours hazy dark golden with a lasting, foamy, off-white head; little lacing. Strong aroma of brett, green apple, sour yoghurt, lactic acid, cheese, unripe fruits - I hesitate to say urine too. It tastes medium funky sour, hints of brett, lactic acid & cheese, and light fruity sweet, green apple, a bit yeasty. Dryish, tart, bitter grapefruit-like & spicy finish, lingering lactic acid. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Impressive character at a staggeringly low 4.2%!

On tap at the Anspach & Hobday brewery in Bermondsey. Hazy orange amber colour lasting white head. Sweetish saison Some biscuit. Some orange fruit on aroma. Not a lot of saison character. A little puke for me. Nope not for me. Struggled with a third of a pint

Bouteille 33cl, BB 01/03/2020.

7/II/18 - 33cl bottle from a trade @ home - BB: 1/III/20 (2018-152) Thanks to Bierridder_S for the trade!
Pretty cloudy yellow to beige beer, big creamy irregular white head, little stable, falls down quickly, bit adhesive. Aroma: pretty fruity, citrus, some passion fruit, sweetish touch (lactose?), very fruity! MF: soft carbon, thin body, Taste: lots of citrus, grapefruit, bit watery, some soft acidity in the back, sweetish malts. Aftertaste: little bitter, dry, grapefruit, soft spicy touch, little malty, good hoppy session ale, maybe not a true saison, but it's definitely a really nice beer! ;-)
