Dark brown strong ale (Pannepot) brewed for the 10th anniversary of "I'Abbaye des Saveurs," Lille, France. Imagine for a second you have a beer that is descent enough to age on an oak barrel that once carried wine made from Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel grapes. And if that isn't good enough, let that same audacious beer mature on a delicate style of Burgundy wine barrel, the essence of Pinot Noir to Nuits-St.-Georges, an appellation often known for darker, more tannic red wines. Right, I've got your attention now! Where some brewers blend, Struise married Burgundy & Malaga through the simultaneous maturation of Pannepot. A very limited edition was bottled as CapSoul in 75cl bottles. Enjoy

07/03/2015 from tap @ ACBF 2015, Vichte. Thanks to Pieter for sharing. Dark brown with tanned. Again an insane mix of aroma’s and taste : coffee, chocolate, caramel, licorice, dark fruits. Maybe just a bit too much on the sweet side, but maybe I’m becoming to spoiled about Struise?

Draft @ ’t Schooltje, merci Carlo.

Thanks to Beerlover_Ben! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBWG IV. Blackish little mocha head. Nose is lots of liquorish, herbal, sweet, lots of sugar. Taste is very heavy on liquorish, light umami, herbal, anis, bitter tannins, little in the way of wine.Liquorish body, slick. Very simple & nowhere near the level of the base beer in my opinion. Mainly just tastes of liquorish. Honnestly I am not recognising this as Pannepot, tastes very different than what I remember Pannepot tasting like – taking age + barrel into account obv. Okay I suppose.
