Tasting at Bruce’s. Thanks to Paul. Dark brown beer with a yellowish tan head. Spicy estery nose. Airy palate, semi dry and a little soft. Smooth malts, a little cream. Lots of spicy bubblegum. Astonishingly little barrel or red wine character after it’s long maturation. Dry finish. It’s certainly drinkable but left me with on overall impression of ho-hum.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is smooth, juicy, jammy, vinous, Vimto, cherry, red grape skin, blackcurrant and a touch of spice. The taste is smooth, roasty, earth mild spice, Vimto, jammy fruits, creamy, wood, light vanilla, cocoa and berry with a smooth finish. Fulsome body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Smooth and well-rounded.
