Dark brown strong ale (Pannepot) brewed for the 10th anniversary of "I'Abbaye des Saveurs," Lille, France. Imagine for a second you have a beer that is descent enough to age on an oak barrel that once carried wine made from Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel grapes. And if that isn't good enough, let that same audacious beer mature on a delicate style of Burgundy wine barrel, the essence of Pinot Noir to Nuits-St.-Georges, an appellation often known for darker, more tannic red wines. Right, I've got your attention now! Where some brewers blend, Struise married Burgundy & Malaga through the simultaneous maturation of Pannepot. A very limited edition was bottled as CapSoul in 75cl bottles. Enjoy

100ml sample. Almost black, with orange head. Aroma of chocolate, raisins, vanilla, a touch of alcohol. Full-bodied with the sweetness balanced by the alcohol. Very nice, but not to the level of regular Pannepot.

Bottle shared at craft beer co clerko. Many thanks to Paul. Opaque black coloured pour with a loose cream coloured head. Aroma is puried apple, stewed fruit, little alcohol, tangy tart fruit. Flavour is composed of apple cider, woody, nutty, toast. Semi sweet, cola. Palate is sweet. Woody, moderate to high carbonation. Bit of a weird one. Cider crossed with a stout.

A very dark brown beer, a beautiful head is dense, medium and brown. Aroma is enjoyable, dark and dried fruits, prunes, strawberries and some port wine. Taste has dark fruits, raisins, refreshning spicyness, rich of maltyness, hint of wine and oak. Medium+ bodied, very smooth and pleasant in the mouth. This version of Pannepot is also incredible. Complex and enjoyable, even too easy to drink. Glorious beer.

75cl bottle @ the 12th Shrewsbury Bottle Share, April 15, courtesy of myself. Present from my brother-in-law in Flanders France. Pours a deep dark brown with tan head. Smooth and luscious Struise dark ale mouthfeel with soft burgundy red wine influence. A beard-stroker.

28th April 2015: Shrewsbury Bottle Exchange Group meeting: cheers Mat for this 0.75 litre offering. Just lovely. Dark body (black) with a tan topping. Rich, smooth and everything good about Pannepot with the added wine and oak like flavours the Burgundy barrels impart. Loved it.

At schooltje. Pours dark and unclear chocolate brown. Good creamy head. Smell is grainy, dark malts. sweet. Taste is an absolute delight. Intense pannepeut, with added complexity. Some mild wine tones. Hints of oak. Very complex, and elegant. I love it, absolutely. Slightly overcarbonates, perhaps. Aftertaste is fleshy, dark malts, hint sweet.
