Bottle from Biernavigatie, BB 12 2015, large sample. Dark brown color, short fluorescent brown head. Aroma of lots of roast, licorice, bit coffee, molasses, slight alcohol, fruity, blackcurrant. Bit sweet in taste, mocha, fruity sour touch from the dark malts. A bit too much licorice not enough chocolate in the nose for me, but makes up in taste. Good stuff.

Bottle split just below the flight path, thanks to the Osprey, 10/06/15. Pitch black with a dirty tan head that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is charr, earthy roast, light spice, coffee notes, chocolate. Taste comprises rich chocolate, liquorice, light spice, toffee fudge, roast malt. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with sweet licks tempered by roasted tones. Decent impy, good balance.

Bottle at Leighton’s place. Many thanks to Daniel to this one. Black / dark brown coloured pour with a thin, fading tan head. Aroma is earthy coffee, roast, coconut, little dried fruits. Flavour is composed smooth roast, little spicy veg, coffee, roast, coconut, toasted coconut. Palate is medium full, highish carbonation. Good stuff. Lingering milky roast, coconut.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Daniel! Pours deep black-brown with a frothy beige head. The aroma holds lots of dark malts, baking cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with rich, rounded chocolate character, scorched earth, raisins. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Burnt malts in the finish, some rubber, bittersweet chocolate. Pretty solid.

Bottle thanks to Dan. It pours jet black with a small tan head. The nose is rich roast, dark chocolate, liquorice, salted caramel, mild smoke, earth and charred wood. The taste is rich roast, oily, toasty, liquorice, salted caramel, cocoa, earth and charred wood with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Rich and toasty. Pretty nice.

330 ml. bottle sampled. BBF 12/2015. Purchased @ Malt Attacks. Black, little tanned mocha head. Nose is not very expressive, light black chocolate, touch roast, faint umami, oddly a touch of wet dog. Taste is very big on charred, very heavy roasted malts, charred oak & a very odd wet dog note, werid & now to me, tad red grape, a touch thin, umami,… A bit thin & lightly oily. A possible mild infection might be at play here. Okay but not really aligned with my preferences.

Pours black, small grey head, Smell is intense, roasted malts with notes of coffee and pure chocolate. Taste is bit bitter, full roasted malts. Too much roasted malts, pulling this out of balance. Still nice though.

A black beer, a head is brown and small. Aroma is great and smooth. Liquirice, coffee, vanilla, sweet chocolate. Taste is more rough. Coffee, some liquirice, herbs, balanced sweetness, also roastiness in the end. Medium+ bodied, low carbonation, quite fresh. Easy and enjoyable, tasteful.
