Our series of New-England saisons continues with Lineage Rye, a wild ale featuring Valley Malt Danko Rye. This Polish origin, locally grown and malted rye provides a subtle and balancing malt backbone to compliment the complex characteristics derived from aging in oak barrels, fermentation with our native New England mixed culture and well-aged hops.
Lineage Rye is medium in body and pours a deep, yellow-golden hue with engaging aromatics of wet hay and mild earth, spice, tart lemon peel and white wine. Following the nose, flavors of tart pink grapefruit flesh, white table grapes, funky must from the aged hops take the lead. Following mid palate with soft oaky vanilla intertwine with a supplementing bready, rye depth. Satisfying, structured oak barrel finish with lively carbonation. Lineage Rye will continue to age nicely in the bottle with its nuanced flavors continually evolving over time.
STYLE: Wild Saison
ABV: 6.9%
HOPS: US Goldings, Aged Hops
MALT: Pilsner, Valley Danko Rye, Flaked Wheat

Thanks to Deeblo. Clear gold thin white head. Vanilla saison. Decent. American oak casks. Decent but over carbonated and not for me.

Batch 1 bottle thanks to Seth. Pours a cloudy yellow with small frothy white head. The aroma is strong oak, yeast, and funk. Thin mouthfeel with nice funk, oak, wheat, grape with lingering dryness. Very nice.

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours hazy gold with a small white head. The nose is sharp white wine, wood, vanilla, vine and toasty coconut. The taste is bitter, earthy, white wine, gooseberry, sherbet, some acidity, hay, damp wood and vanilla stuff with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nice vinous character. Nice layers and depth to it.

Bottle shared in London - picked up at the brewery. Pours clear yellow with a frothy, white foam head. Gorgeous nose, some old hay, used leather, mild funk, lemon, peach. Light sweet flavor with some mild cereal, biscuits, lemon, mild tartness, some lemony acidity, hints of white pepper. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Clean finish, fairly dry, with more lemon, slight bitter straw, cereal, pepper, pale wood. Clean, nuanced. Beautiful.

32oz growler pours a clear gold with some fluffy, sudsy, white head. Nose is musty, muscat grape, some grapefruit, a little cheese rind, some bread crust, some funk, a little band aid, lemon. Flavor is right on the border of saison and sour, some bread, some cheese, yeast, some kumquat, some candy, some medicine cabinet, honey, straw, grass. Medium bodied, slightly funky finish. Could have gone longer in the barrel.
