Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours a dark copper with a small off-white head and good lacing. Malts predominate in the aroma plus some traces of treacle. There’s a creamy texture in the mouth with malts again to the fore along with grains and toffee and just a hint of alcoholic strength. A decent enough ESB.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A bright golden amber pour with a scummy looking beige head; aroma of purple fruit; sweet and syrupy in the mouth with berry and plum flavours; then a raisin finish with an underlying hedgerow bitterness and lingering caramel.

Wetherspoon Autumn Beer Festival 2019. Cask @ Barum Top Inn, Halifax. Dark clear copper with a creamy head. Has a red ale styling with a mild bitterness and a slightly sweet red berry taste, which is more stated in its nose.

22nd Oct 2019: hand-pulled pint in my local Wetherspoon's. Clean and clear light ruby body, tight and smooth off-white head. Malty front, yet fairly bitter in nature, not as balanced as their 'normal' Abbot Ale.
