Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen
Balck color with creamy head. The aroma is sweetish and stale (pond water), overripe fruits, candeish, it reminds me of some poor Dutch Abbey Ale. Good body structure; strange flavor, not real roasted malts, instead some liquorice and bubble-gum; very light yeast spices; sweetish; stale pond water impression; no bitterness.
Classic failed American attempt to brew a Saison, this time more vicious.

375 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with medium head that settles quickly. Aromas of brown sugar, light smoke, leather, and dark floral scents. Flavors of burnt malts, smoke, cola, and alcohol. Hot for the ABV.

10/10/11/12/12/11

Tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013 - Session 1. Pours clear, dark brown with a fine, tan cream head. Bready malt nose with light berries and mellow yeast. Light to medium sweet flavor with dryish brown bread, light dough and yeast, faint leathery fruits, light toasty hay. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Good balance. Clean finish with more bread, hints of alcohol and dried berries. Lots of engaging nuance. Great stuff.

200ml, keg at Mikkeller & Friends. Fawn-coloured head resting on top of a coal dark coloured body. Spotty lacing. Malt-fruity nose, tart and sweet. Taste of semi-tart fruits together with grainy malts. Notes of yeasty fruitiness towards the finish. Masked alcohol. Fine bodied. A nice one (Copenhagen, 22.05.2013).

Bottle: Poured a dark black color ale with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of solid rustic malt with light funky ester with some light spices notes also easily identifiable. Taste is a somewhat unique mix between some roasted malt with dry notes with light funky yeast ester and some spices also discernable. The hibiscus and berries were quite hard to distinguish. Body is quiet full with great carbonation. Interesting experiment with good balance between different ingredient but not something I would necessarily seek on a regular basis.

Dark brown coloured body with a thin, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of alcohol, yeast, floral notes, roasted malt and a bit of earth. Medium-bodied; Assertive yeast and alcohol notes coupled with roasted malt, cereal, pit fruits, figs and a hint of peanuts show well. Aftertaste is very complex with a lot of raisins, roasted malt, alcohol, pit fruits, yeast, bread and a bit of herbal notes all show through here. Overall, a nice and rather complex beer with some good flavours and even better finish. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from West LakeView Liqours in Chicago, Illinois on 03-Decmeber-2011 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington on 16-December-2012.

Bottle on Amtrak Train 27 - The Empire Builder ( from Binny’s South Loop) - 05/11/12. Obscured light black with a mahoosive dark tan head that soon thins but retains. Sour fruits on the nose, molasses, dark caramelise sugars, herbal tones, light diacetyl. Taste follows nose, dark toffee and fruits prominent. Medium bodied, light spritzy carbonation leading to a tarte finish.
