Elgood’s Coolship Sour Ale is brewed using traditional methods & original brewing equipment. Spontaneous fermentation is initiated on our unique double coolships. This unique English style sour beer, brewed in the artisanal manner at North Brink Brewery has been blended with Raspberry and a hint of Blackberry. The beer has a purple colour and a sparkling finish. The sweetness and rich berry flavour is off-set by the smooth sourness of the Coolship Ale, the hedgerow fruit aroma is prominent and with soft fruity tones.

(Bottle) Pours clear reddish amber with small loose frothy head. Sour and fruity aroma. Medium body, smooth with bright carbonation. Lovely taste. Nicely sour, with tart raspberries and vinegary yoghurty fallouts. There’s some dark toffee / burnt sugar sweet and bitter notes in the background too. Very enjoyable

9/4/2020. Bottle sample courtesy of SHIG, cheers! Pours dark amber with a small short lasting bubbly off-white head. Aroma of home made raspberry jam, with a touch of syrup and toffee. Medium sweetness and medium plus sour. Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation. Certainly one of the more interesting Elgood’s beers I’ve had.

Bottle: Poured a mahogany red with a beige ring head. Aroma is fruity berry seeds, tart to the nose. Taste is more of that berries fruit very tart and sour, tad on the sweet side for a lambic.

Cask @ IndeWildeman. Reddish amber color. Raspberry, strawberry and grapes in the aroma and flavor. Jam-like fruit. Moderate sweetish sourness. Tannines from the fruit. Nice.

Clear reddish medium amber colour, small fizzy white head, recedes within seconds. Very fruity nose, aroma berries, cherries, lemonade syrup, bubble gum. Flavour medium sweet and light sour, fruity, cherries, berries, tart. Becomes a bit more sour in the finish but sugary sweetness dominates. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation, okay fruit beer.

Keg @ Arcade Beers, Huddersfield. Darker purple coloured. Way too sweet, tasting like ribena cordial from my youth.
