Brown Ale - American Regular Out of Production|

Brown Angel was designed to have three distinct levels: a dark brown backbone with notes of chocolate and coffee resulting from the use of 1500 pounds of Maris Otter malt, aggressive American hops (Amarillo and Columbus) provide bitterness and some citrus, while a more delicate floral finish is achieved from the use of the classic English hop, East Kent Goldings. This is NOT your old school brown, but rather a sexy American interpretation. At 40IBUs and 7% Alcohol it goes down sneaky fast.

Sampled at a festival. It has hard for a brown ale to get much better. Simple beer. Lots of malt flavor, lightly sweet but the flavor of malt and grain is more prominent. good palate on this beer.

22 oz. bottle, pours a reddish dark brown with a small white head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, a touch of dark fruits, and some oxidation. Flavour is similar, with bready malt, caramel sweetness, and toasted malt. Well-balanced and clean. Not overly intriguing, but it's solid.

Bottle from Kihoskh, Copenhagen - dark brown pour with beige head. Toasty and roasted malty aroma and taste, medium sweet with some caramel, toffee, light cocoa, nuts, prominent hoppy presence throughout compared to a normal brown, but this works for me.

Bomber from Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours a deep brown with medium tan head. Aroma is citrus and nutty malts. Taste follows with hops shining through a light woodiness. Not what I would call a Brown Ale.

Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Aromas of prunes, raisins, light sourness in there and a little chocolate. Quite a nutty tang in the flavour with subtle nuances of caramel, licorice toffee and treacle. Good bitter-sweet balance. Dry, light bitter finish.

650 ml bottle, paid $8.99 at Tuckaway Tavern and Butcher Shop. ( Every single bomber at Tuckaway was priced the same no matter the style, very odd piece system) deep brown color with thin bubbly head and lace. Aroma is what I was expecting, burnt molasses, roasted nuts, chocolate and some light citrus hops.
The flavor is a carbon copy of the aroma. The texture has a nice creamy texture with a lingering sweet malt/ molasses finish. The bittering citrus hops make it pretty well balanced. Overall, very nice for a standard style.
