But yeast isn’t just here for the grunt work. Yeast has the power to change the flavour, aroma and complexion of your beer in an instant.
This series is designed to showcase the impact different yeasts have on the same base beer. This series of 4 beers gives the limelight to four totally different yeast strains: Belgian Trappist, Pilsen Lager, American Ale and Bavarian Weizen. All 4 beers have been brewed to the same ABV using a blend of Centennial and Amarillo hops and a backbone of Pale Ale, Munich and Cara Malts.

Bottle shared at Nieuwjaarsborrel. Pours clear golden with an off white head. Aroma of Weizen yeast, citrus and light malt. Flavor is light to moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Light medium bodied with light carbonation.

330ml Bottle - Amber in colour. Peach, sultanas and a hint of toffee in the aroma. Earthy and fruity taste with sultanas, dried apricot and nuts.

Hazy amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is a little soft and quite dry. Dry spicy yeast. A little dry malt and some cream. Light esters. Dry finish. Very light pine in the aftertaste. Dull standard stuff - where is the Brewdog attitude?

cloudy orange colour, some white head; fruity-resiny aroma with malts, similar taste - ok this is definitely not a german hefeweizen at all!...and to be honest I’m very close to lost my patience to this unleash the yeast serie...fortunately I have only one left...really f_cked serie...

(Keg at William K Kurvi, 20131228) The beer poured deep amber and hazy. Its head was medium sized, dense and almost white. Aroma had fruitiness, citricness, clove and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, clove, citricness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, fruity and bitter. The usual characteristics of hefeweizen yeast were almost completely missing except the mild clove scent and flavour. But this was still a nice brew.

Bright amber color, hazy, with medium sized compact head. Simple aroma, light cereals, malt, and esters. High carbonation, quite smooth mouthfeel; malt, cereals and some toffee flavor, a bit caramelly; rather strong bitterness, with some hop resins and timid hop fruitiness.

33 cl. bottle split with Kraddel. Procured by him. BBF 11/10/2014. Touch darker amber / orange than the pils one but still clear, head is only bubbles. Smell is horrible, rotting forest ground, decay, mould, chemicals, seems like the yeast & the USA hops that BrewDog used and their techniques are a horrible mismatch. I cannot stress how much the smell upsets me. Taste is a bit better but very odd, sweet caramel, very sweet candy sugar, thick hefe yeast, fish guts, light sweet hay, rotting oranges, light mint & minerals in the finish. This is a horrible mismatch of things, they really messed-up here. Touch watery body. It is like bizarre take on the Punk IPA with hefe yeast, bizarre.

pours clear and light amber good to big white head complex , hoppy and malty, and spiced smell . ships gets sick, i think it smells good . its prob cause ships drank hot chocolate before this .. ok carbo taste is rather weak, after the pilsen also got a creamy character , with a floral-ish aspect to it . soft, not as intence , bit bitter . spiced in the back , ok
