0.375l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen shared with ClubGonzo. Black body with a reddish hue and a thin brown, nicely lacing head. Really nice and interesting aromas of vanilla, wood, sweet thin chocolate, some coffee and perhaps some tobacco? Oheo! Explosion in the mouth of ash, cocoa, dark bitter chocolate and smoky wood. Full-bodied and low carbonation. Guess the red wine is well hidden in the slightly acidic woodiness and helps give this a really nice and sharp taste. This is my first one in the Black Hole-series but definitely not the last.

Bottle that I picked up at the Cask and Kitchen, Pimlico, London, Dec 29th 2010 consumed 08.01.11 in a Mikkeller Black Hole Barrel Aged Edition taste off, without the Rum edition available. Like the others this is grimping mire black, but unlike the others whilst this is undoubtedly smooth, roasty and very pleasant it has also a fruitier tangier even slight sourness to it. There is even a little buzzy hoppiness to this beer, roasty bite, some wet soft woodiness, richer, with some coffee and chocolate also showing now. I thought this would be the best of this trio but not so sure. A6 A5 T7 P4 Ov13 3.5

Aroma of coffee, though much mellower (and fainter) than the regular version, with honey, vanilla, and berries. Flavor of coffee, cola, chocolate, and berries. Sweet and boozy. Sharp and fizzy palate—how did they manage that with barrel aging? Can’t really see what the barrel did for this, but it is less obnoxious than the regular version. No go.

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, oak and vanilla. Taste is medium sweet with a dry finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

375 ml bottle. Black body with a thin brown head. Aroma is vinous, slightly roasted malt and fruity. Strong flavors of sweet, burnt malt, lots of bitterness, wood and aged red wine with some fruitiness. Long lasting aftertaste with a heavenly combination of sweet malt, bitterhops and warming alcohol. Sometimes I find myself getting a bit bored of all this barrel aging versions that seems to be just for the name, but this time the barrel did something beautiful with the beer.

At Borefts BF 2010. Black colour lasting tan head. Rich dark and very roasty. Dry as hell. Bit grainy on the swallow. It is grainy, which I quite like in a strong malty beer. Lovely barrel ageing comes through, along with a touch of alcoholic heat. Lovely though and one that stuck in my memory.

Bottle from Ølbutikken. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are rich coffee, chocolate, red wine, wood, licorice and hops.

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown good mostly deminishing head. Black colour. Heavy malty and moderate hoppy aroma. Some vinius notes. Moderate bitter flavor. Aerage moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate.

Bottle, 375ml corked at Patricks. A black beer with a small, beige head. Lots of coffee on the nose, alcohol too. Berries and red wine notes too, and a roasted scent. Full body, warming and quite sweet. The flavor has lots of mocha and alcohol, some roasted malts and a hint of blue grapes or dried fruits and vanilla. I guess I would have said dried fruits if tasting it blind. Ever-lasting finish. Lovely, intense and almost over the top. 101210
