Medium, very dense & fine, irregular and stable beige head over deep-brown beer. Alcohol, fusels, liquorice, whisky, spiced fruit - as clove-studded oranges - and a touch of lactic acid. Stout, burnt flavours, very light acidity and roasted barley. Less alcohol to taste than the nose suggested, but the warming backthroat feel tells enough. Mint, basil, sour cream in the finish. Very well-bodied & smooth. Generally speaking classical, but I’m in two minds about the mintflavour at the end.

33cl bottle pours a watery, translucent black with a spitty, white head. Nose is all herbs, spearmint, licorice, chocolate, lots of yeasty esters. Flavor has chocolate, herbs, yeast, minty. Full bodied, herbal, minty finish. Weird all around.

Black beer, creamy beige head, falls down to a small but stable head. Aroma: alcohol first! Ripe fruits, mocha and hops are following, but harder to detect due to the immense alcohol scent that overpowers everything. MF: soft carbon, full body, thick creamy to syrupy texture. Taste: caramel ,mocha, ripe fruits, dried fruits, little hoppy. Aftertaste: mocha turning to coffee, dry bitter hops in the finish.

bottle@home: very dark brown, going to black, tanned head that doesn’t last long, smells strong & sweet with dark fruits, roasted malt, caramel & whiff of alcohol, smell follows the nose, medium sweet with cinnamon, ripe (almost overripe) dark fruits (raisins & grapes,…), roasted malt, liquorish, chocolate, black bread with a bitter aftertaste & some almost porto like qualities, minor taste, the body is medium which is surprising but very nice, overall a very interesting & good beer, bottle mentions briefly a black IPA & BSDA but this feels a cross between a quad & porter to me, only lighter than you would expect such a combination to be

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Gent, Belgie, 18-03-11 consumed 21.03.11 Pours dark brown bit murky. Loz got loads of liqourice straight away and so did I. Soft in the mouth, smooth, warmth from alcohol, some chocolate, there is a hoppiness but this is drowned out a bit by the chocolate and liquorice. Nice beer. A7 A3 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5
