One of our favourite styles - American Brown Ale! Medium bodied with a solid backbone of malt richness. This is balanced with toasty and nutty textures from the roast chestnuts and finished with lashings of hops.

Bottle from Cornelius. Clear ruby body with a thick off-white head. Great lacing. Aroma of filter coffee, stewed pear and caramel. Flavour of burnt sugar and fig. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft fizz. Decent without being particularly memorable.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear, dark, reddy brown. Thin, broken, tan head, that’s leaves some lacing. Chocolate malt. Some woodiness. Some grassy hop. Taste is a little burnt toffee sweet. Some dryness, and a burnt bitterness. Decent body. Finishes dry, with more of the burnt bitterness.

330ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a small head. Aroma is piney mango hops, coffee and cocoa. Taste is very bitter with coffee and piney hops. Cocoa on the finish.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark clear mahogany pour with a creamy beige head, aroma has caramel and roasted malts, taste has toffee along with a hint of pine hop, this is really clean and easy drinking.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear medium amber with a bubbly white head. The aroma is rich resin hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a light hop citrus bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle shared thanks to Jmgreenuk. Pours clear brown with a small off white head. Aroma of malt, overripe fruits, caramel and raisin. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Gravity dispense at Craft 100, CBC Clapham, 03/04/14. Dark chestnut brown with a moderate light tan swirl and edgeing. Nose is ripe fruit, light fart, dark malt. Taste comprises dark berry fruit, earthy tones, light roast, toffee, dark malt. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. So so brown.

(Cask at Craft Islington, London, 10 Apr 2014) Dark ruby red colour with brief, beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, red fruit and citrus peel. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, red fruit and a slightly bitter-sweet finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Well balanced and tasty. Quite nice.

Cask (Red House, Newcastle) - Dark brown with red tinges. Chocolate, cherries and roasted malt in the aroma. Nutty and slightly roasted taste with raisins, chestnuts and toffee detected.

Cask gravity @ Craft100. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel hoppy aroma. Fruity malty caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty caramel hoppy finish.
