Draught @ Malt & Mold. Slightly cloudy bright orange with small foamy off-white head, grassy hops aroma, low carbonation, slightly sweet grapefruit taste, thin body, longish finish with grapefruit aftertaste. The rye component was not very evident for me,

A hazed reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet doughy malt with floral resinous hops, tropical fruit, nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel malt with loads of resinous floral hops, licorice notes, orange juice, nice. Bottle at Mondial 2014.

650 ml bottle from Cigarette City for $9.99. Deep clear ruby with lasting thick head retention. It sure does look nice in the snifter. Aroma is real nice; big rye, citrus and lots of pine resin.

Flavor is the same as the aroma but in reverse order. The pine resin is pretty bold upfront with the spicy rye in the base of the beer. Crystal malts and some caramel are here for some balance but the pine resin and rye is pretty over the top. After it warmed up a bit the alcohol was pretty noticeable as well. Overall I have a few more bottles from this brewery to pop open, as far as this brew goes, it is just ok. If your looking for rye and pine resin you will find it here. It really did left me wanting more, substance.

Sample at Blind Tiger. The beer is a cloudy reddish-amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, fruit and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of piney hops, sweet malt and fruit. The finish is moderately bitter with a spicy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 9/3/13

Aroma: The aroma is full of rye malts and spice, with some caramel and toffee as well
Appearance: It pours a deep ruby red color with a lasting foam of tan head and heavy lacework
Flavor: Fairly sweet with lots of spice, like the nose, but there's some light hop bitterness too
Palate: The feel is creamy, it is medium bodied, with soft carbonation, and a long, sticky finish
Overall Impression: It is a heck of a good looking beer, so it has that going for it. Oddly though, the hops really don't come through on the nose at all. It's just spice and sweetness. There's a little hop that comes through in the flavor, but not really enough for me to consider this an IPA. Still though, if you went in expecting a rye-based ale with mild hops and lots of sweetness, you'd probably get what you wanted here, but if you are going to use those faithful letters I-P-A I need more hops.

Rich ruby tinted amber coloured body with hints of brown near the bottom, all with a thin, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pungent rye and malt, a little hops, a lot of alcohol and bitterness and a hint of some light sweetness. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong malt and rye flavours up front with a big alcohol presence, some earthy and filling starches and a light hop note showing - but there is a lot of filling malts up front with some sweetness behind. Aftertaste shows some alcohol, honey sweetness, rye and a pungent starch note. Overall, not such a great beer - not such a great rye-based IPA and definitely not worth searching out, nor worth spending a lot of money on. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods (Columbus Circle) in New York, New York a few minutes ago on 12-July-2013 for US$11.99 sampled in my hotel room here on 12-July-2013 here in New York.
