Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 09/23/2011. Clear orange pour with lively carbonation and a thick eggshell white head that burns away steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of bready malt and caramel. Light effervescent body with flavors of caramel, toasted malt and mild hops. The finish is sweet and malty. Average overall.

12 oz bottle, purchased @ Julio’s Liquors for $2.29 with Wild Six discount. Served in a lager glass. Hazy gold/ orange like color. Lightly sweet malt aroma. Full, thick white head, some light lace. Very simple, upfront Marzen. Hops and caramel malt. Decent.

Aroma is of barley and cherry licquer. Clear dark amber, thin vanishing head. Buckets of cherry flavor with a lesser malt base. Vanilla finish. Thin to medium body. Surprisingly good, especially for the price.

Crystal clear light amber coloured body with a super thin white head and a few bubbles faintly skimming up to the top. Aroma of metal, stale malt, light hops, nuts and a very tiny amount of apples. Light-bodied; Super bland metallic taste up front with some malt and nuts following afterwards. Aftertaste shows malt with very little else. Overall, this is a very big disappointment - I was expecting much more. Not a good beer for the style and should definitely be passed up unless you really can’t get anything else! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 11-November-2007.

bottle - Pours golden with a one finger head and has a mild bready malt aroma. The flavor is all sweet malt with almost no detectable hops. It’s a little on the thin side, obviously easy to drink, and generally just bland. Fair at best.

Bottle at Pirates/Cardinals baseball game. Scribbled notes are tough to read. Fairly brown color (old penny copper) with a small head. Aromas are sweet and mild. Flavor is pretty malty with a little bit of a hops boost. Not sure why they are serving Oktoberfest at ballgames in July, but it was nice.

A label with a nice history on it - I imagine an oompah band playing in the background as I crack the lid on this brown 12 oz bottle. Pours like a darker transparent regular lager. Pretty nice, perhaps sweet aroma. Real beery intial flavor with lots of personality that is beefy like and IPA or stout yet it is not offensively bitter. Some hop linger that lasts for a while on the finish.

Clear golden color with off white head. Sweet lager aroma with some graininess. Taste starts off rather neutral as the carbonation explodes. Then the sweetness and grain (maybe Munich) malts hit in concert. Nice balance. Just beyond midway the hop bitterness wrestles away the flavor dominance and goes all the way to a nice lingering hoppy aftertaste.
