Ideal for the Lager drinker who prefers amber beers, the "Scratch" is a smooth, malt-accentuated lager. Brewed in the "Steam-Style" tradition, scratch is a so-called hybrid beer that is fermented at medium temperatures to develop some ale and lager characteristics.

Purchased on my trip to Nashville. Pours an amber clean colour with a big off-white cap that stays a long time, and lacing is spotted all over. Aromas are very light in this one: mild hop, caramel and well, I cannot find much else. The caramel is a bit more apparent in the taste. Malty, medium-bodied, with little notes of nuts and hop in the aftertaste. Not totally impressed by this one (not saying it is not good, but kind of boring).

Pours a pretty amber in my opinion with very small head. taste is sweet and malty and is quite lively on the palate. Very easy going beer even for the style.

Refrigeratd bottle poured into a glass. Pours a clear dark amber with a small head that dissapates to almost nothing. Taste is a little hops. This is one of the most watery beers that I have had. Overall this is one of the most boring beers I have had and will not be buying this again.

Out of a bottle poured into a pint glass. Nice golden amber color with a solid white head. Crisp aroma with some corn meal and sweet malt. Taste is very crisp and clean and medium mouthfeel that coats nicely. Malts are prevalent and sweetness on the finish.

Bottle, 10C. Pours amber with a small yellow-tinged beige head. High bead. Mild aroma of caramel, sultanas and grass. Tastes nut sweet. Dry and rather empty finish. It’s 95% dull, but there are hints of fruity complexity and sourness there.

bottle from Bierzwerg. Clear amber-chestnut colour, mid-sized off-white head. Fruity nose. Medium-bodied, solid malty base with a fruity character, hints of citrus fruit mainly. Shy hints of caramel, but the fruity bit dominates. Good!

[355ml bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring] Pours a nice reddish amber with a moderate off-white head. Annoyingly fizzy. Sweet caramel malt at first, with an odd minty soapiness at the mid-point. Some grassy notes before a rather clumsy dirty bitterness in the finish (still more sweet than bitter though). It’s pretty average really.
