PINTA Żytorillo 14,0° - our own vision of traditional rye beer. Classical rye beer (Roggenbier) is pale, full bodied and softly-hopped (like PINTA Apetyt na Życie 13,1°). We decided to take next step - we added more malts (roasted malt included), we used perfect yeast for dark beers of top fermentation (S-04) and we added a bunch of Amarillo® hops (USA). PINTA Żytorillo 14,0° - rye beer for new days.

Ingredients: water, Weyermann® barley malts: pale ale, rye, Munich II, roasted Carafa® Special II; hops: Amarillo (USA); yeast: Safale™ S-04.

The label says this is a black rye IPA. It felt like a thick dry stout, extra hopped, with piney hops. Very thick pour with little head, and indeed much more dry than I would have expected. Decent brew nonetheless.

42nd Floor Tasting. Thanks to the handsome charismatic Hawaiian pizza lover. Hazy deep amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Light palate, decent fine carbonation. The thin dark malts bring a touch of bitterness. Mild piney hops, little spice. Light finish. Moderate bitter linger. A light CDA and a good foundation for a better one.

Bottle thanks to Mr Kenny. Consumed at the 42nd floor tasting. It pours murky dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is toasty, earthy, fruit cake, sour cherry, citrus peel and sherbet. The taste is smooth, bitter, toasty, light spice, fruit cake, charred wood, toffee, earth and dark bread with a charred finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. A bit charred perhaps, but overall rather enjoyable.

Bottle shared. Almost black with small beige head. Roasted nuts and coffee, ash, quit some citrusy hops with a touch of resin. Roasted bitter with a light underlying sweetness. Very thick rye feel, almost like jelly. Thicker than most imperial stouts. Nice beer.

Barwa ciemnobrunatna, spora czapa piany, która długo się trzyma. W aromacie nuty chmielowe, głównie cytrusy, trochę żywicy i trawy oraz nuty ciemnych słodów, przede wszystkim kawa, paloność, trochę słonecznika i karmelu.
