A lavish and complex coffee beer with flavors and aromas of chocolate covered espresso beans, molasses, and brown sugar cookies, and rich milk chocolate.

In the years since it was born, Double Shot has earned a reputation around the brewery as one of our proudest accomplishments. We have learned a ton about the base beer and how it interacts with our favorite coffees. This special, exceedingly decadent version is a culmination of those efforts! We brewed a bigger base beer than ever to support a huge infusion of coffee. The result is a lavish and complex coffee beer with flavors and aromas of chocolate covered espresso beans, molasses, and brown sugar cookies, and rich milk chocolate. It’s supremely rich and perfect as a winter digestif.

500ml bottle. Loads of creamy milky notes, roasty coffee, chocolate and hints of vanilla and licorice. A bit too sweet and lactic.

Pours black, small tanned head. Smell is intense, coffee, roasty , rather dry. taste is full, intense, coffee ( roasty, but also a tad 'green' and herbal ) , chocolate. Good, thick body, medium carbo. very nice indeed. Fine balance. perhaps a bit much on the coffee, but not overpowering the beer as a whole.

Growler shared thanks to kermis. Lots of espresso on the nose. Maple syrup, sweet coffee beans, dark chocolate, vanilla chocolate chip cookies, quite some roasted nuts, dried red berries, molasses, light spices and roasted chilies without the burn. Over medium sweet and medium bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Absolutely lovely balanced stuff with massive cookies and all kinds of desserts with good espresso on the side. Love it!

Draught at EBF, 2/5/16.
Deep mahogany-ebony body shows low clarity and a tan head that slowly fades to cover.
For being their biggest coffee beer, it’s surprisingly balanced/easygoing in the nose. That’s not to say it doesn’t smell great, as it does, I was just expecting to be blown away by coffee. But I’m glad I’m not. Espresso jelly beans, deep, earthy coffee ground notes, lots of milk chocolate and light burnt toffee. Vanilla carries away the finish which is quite malty and silky with no alcohol or flaws.
Huge coffee flavor is of course full of espresso, with a light beaniness to it and tons of earthy, used coffee ground notes. Dark chocolate, interludes of toffee and lactic acid, moderate fruitiness and a vanilla-fudge finish. Whew. A lot going on here and yet it doesn’t bludgeon you with any one note. Body, like single shot, is a touch lackluster for the style. A touch loose on the carbonation and texture, despite all of the fudgey chocolate and lactose. Still, I’d take this any day over single shot. The fact that it’s not boozey is also pretty cool.

Draft Extreme Beer Fest 2016. Hazy gold in color full white head. Nice carbonation level. Aroma is roasted grain, cold pressed coffee, chocolate.

Flavor is fresh coffee bean,( French roast ), sweet chocolate, dry roasted texture. Coffee is lightly lingering through the sip. Body is full with soft, creamy mouthfeel. It’s good but if I had to stand in line for this again, I would have chosen another sample of Doppelganger. And I enjoy coffee stouts, so that says something.
