'In loving memory of Georges Christiaens'

Bottle @ Billie’s Bier Kafetaria. Clear golden colour. Nose of tart apple, whisky and vanilla. Sweet, light tart, bitter finish. Well balanced. I like this!

19/I/16 - 33cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ home - BB: 20/VIII/18 (2016-54)

Little cloudy beige to orange beer, creamy irregular off-white head, little stable, falls down quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: overripe banana, sourish, bit spicy, some cloves, funky touch, quite some yeast. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots of banana, yeast, alcohol, bit metallic, sourish touch, slightly bitter, sweet notes. Aftertaste: banana peel, bit funky, sourish, are that brett notes? Bit lemony, alcohol, very fruity, lots of banana. Yeast is overpowering most of the smell and taste, but there's some nice funk in it, probably an infection from the barrel.

Amber to golden colored, unclear, medium off white creamy long lasting head. Aroma is of brewing sugar, vanilla, honey, whisky, oak barrel and fruity. Taste is medium to very sweet candy sugar and honey, fruits, vanilla and spicy, oaky whisky, wood, alcohol well hidden, some light tartness and light+ spicy bitterness. Medium+ bodied, soft+ carbonation, wonderfully creamy. This is an excellent brew! (bottle, Bierhalle Deconinck, Anzegem, B - Cheers to the presenter who told me I can’t leave the shop without this bottle!)

330 ml. bottle. Golden, small white head. Nose is weird extremely sweet mix of fancy bath soap, sugar, candy & artificial vanilla. Taste is bizarre, extremely sweet honey, marzipan, sugar, lightly mineral, more candy, huge artificial candy sweetness, vanilla oak, hay,.. boozy in the finish. Rather fizzy body. Interesting, felt a bit too much like trying to drink something akin to Jelly Belly Beans.

Good, just off-white head over hazy ochre-orange beer. Spicy (nutmeg), wood, lactic acid, milk past BBd. Dried milk, wood, milkchocolate, lactic acid. Sweet underbuild for dry-woody (old oak) flavours; dried fruit. Alcohol, as well as the vanilla, only come out once warming up. Rather well-bodied, quite slick; feels better carbonated than it looks. Gradually grew on me, but the diary aromas made it a bit difficult for me to like it immediately.

New whisky barrel aged beer honoring the brewer of Deca, who sadly lost his life in a car accident recently. Bottle at Kulminator. Dense, stable, creamy, frothy, off-white head, misty robe of pale peach blonde colour. Aroma has quite a lot of vanilla-like oak and woody tannins piercing through an otherwise fairly mundane tripel, with further hints of dry white wine, pineapple, banana, melon, apricot, fresh orange peel, white bread and something vaguely raw vegetable-like. Sweetish, mildly fruity onset, hints of banana, kiwi and peach, soft carbonation, supple and lightly vinous mouthfeel, caramelly maltiness with a minerally edge, gently bitterish finish of spicy, earthy hops, the drying woodiness, a hint of warming alcohol and some retronasal clove-like phenols. Could do with some more refinement, this is basically a very ordinary Belgian tripel with an extra layer of wood and whisky added, but it has been added very effectively, I must add. Reminds me a bit of Palm’s Cornet.

Bouteille 33cl.
