Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Almost black with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate and whisky. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish. Soft and smooth. 121013

Bottle, 7.7%. Very dark brown with tiny head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, caramel and a little whisky. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, whiskey, medium sweet, caramel, little liquorice, wood and a little bitter.

Bottle @ Jesperhus Camping. Pours black with a light brown head, leaving some nice lacings. Aroma of roasted malt, loads of coffee, dark chocolate, mild whisky notes, aok. Flavor is malts, coffee, dark bitter chocolate, whisky, oak. Medium body, soft carbonation, dry roasted finish. 280913

Also a bottle shared by Colin at the Borefts Rush after party at the Tulip! Opaque dark brown beer, bubbly tan head. Smooth and slightly soft palate, semi dry. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth dark malt with a nice tang coming from the malt and the whisky. Light touch of dark fruits. Mild dry malt roast leading to a whisper of ash. Super light vanilla oak. Fruity mellow whisky, nice dark chocolate and a dash of coffee. Finishes smooth with a good fruity tone. Pretty complex and tasty, just wanted it to be a little more luxuriant.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, roasted malt, chocolate, and whiskey. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, roasted malt, whiskey, and and alcohol, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

33 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is fruity, dark malty and breadish. Dark chocolate. Sweet, fruity, toasted toffee malty and dark breadish. Bitter and lingering toasted malty finish. Lingering whiskey finish.

Tulip Bodegraven Borefts 2013. Chocolate aroma and flavour. Touch of barrel ageing. Yes it adds a bit of sourness to it. Good character.

Tap at London Craft Beer Festival. Pours deep, brown-black with a soft, foamy beige head. Great beer. Lots of torched barrel character. Some fruits, dark berries, rich chocolate, moderate roast. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet on the finish with balanced roasted malts, chocolate and barrel character. Superb stuff.

Keg at Leeds International Beer Festival. (Programme has this down as 7.4%). Mahogany colour. Coffee coloured head. Whisky aroma is instant. There’s a vanilla and dark chocolate, roast coffee bean element too. Everything you’d want really. Texture is creamy but full bodied. Dry, roasty, nutty finish. The best beer of a cracking evening of good beer.
