50cl bottle from Morrisons, Bracknell. An orangey amber pour with a thin white head; musty grain aroma with a touch of citrus; grainy body with an orangey caramel taste; and a pleasant citrus bitterness to finish. Not very Christmassy, but actually pretty good.

Bottle from B&M Canterbury and drunk at home. Clear amber colour lasting off white head. Citrus hop and malty red berry aroma. One of the new phase of Thwaites beers, that are quite tasty. Better than average especially for a Christmas beer and actually fairly likeable. I do like the lemon, lime orange flavour on the finish. Decent.

500ml Bottle: BBD Nov 14, poured into a UK pint sleeve on 22 Dec 13 (at home). I’ve been bigging Thwaites up lately, this however let them down a little in my eyes. Poured a very clean Old Golden colour with an off-white mini covering of foam. The nose wasn’t up to much, some malty molasses and faint fruitiness. Taste wise it failed to be ’A Magically Festive Brew’ like the front label acclaimed: it was OK for a UK Bitter but it lacked any Festive attributes, or at least my bottle did. I don’t want plain biscuits and a jam toasty for Christmas! It’s drinkable and almost tasty, but I was expecting a lot more from a brewery that has impressed me with their beers recently.

500ml bottle. Pours burnt gold with a small head. Aroma is woody and dark berry hops. Taste has lemonade and dark berries to start. Subtle mango hop finish. Amazing for a 4% bitter from B+M!

Cask at Cross Keys, Handsworth, Sheffield. "Yule Love It". But only if you like the taste of burnt, nutty toffee. Which, actually, is ok for a pint or two. But after that...

Bottle from Tesco. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is grassy hop with a little malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a hop liqourice bitter spice palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. More like an IPA than a Christmas beer.
